Sorry, but I just can't find any reason why you made the connection to vorgins from his visit to the Louvre.... Please explain!

Btw: the real WTF on the swiss Poster is that the initiative for stopping naturalisation of immigrants was called "Einbürgerungsinitiative" (initiative for naturalisation) which sounds like they wanted more of it when you don't know the dark details

Oh, we know about spacers, just not usually a good idea on the mopeds. They are used on shaved heads and things like that.

They are NOT meant as a universal adapter to get any old plug to work. Like most things here, bad/wrong application of technology.

You know, Alex, if you keep getting that salmiakki liquorice "candy", I'll take it off your hands :)

Actually Alex, that's why most of us Europeans just call you Americans "hopelessly ignorant."

You think the SVP folder is something? You ain't seen nothing till you have seen the SVP sheep posters.

I immigrated to Switzerland because I happened to be headhunted for a job in Zürich. Most of the other immigrants I know are here for similar reasons.

Pretending immigrants are inherently criminal is just so far out. Reality is, that there are so many law-abiding immigrants working in Switzerland, that if you removed all the immigrants Swiss society would fall apart.

  • chris (unregistered) in reply to sf

take a look at the Swiss Flag. That are not Band-Aids but Swiss passports.

Not funny at all, but a serious campaign from right wing party SVP.

  • Paul "TBBle" Hampson (unregistered)

That "The Power Of Seven" thing is marked "For Internal Use Only".

Maybe the photo's just really zoomed in, but I don't think I could swallow that, no matter what it was prescribed for.

  • Gimly (unregistered)

I don't understand how people keep on confusing the swiss flag with the red cross symbol? It's quite easy :

    • red cross on white background : ICRC
    • white cross on red background : Swiss flag

And this campaign from the SVP was just racist, xenophobic and just stupid, like all the SVP posters by the way. This party just gives us a bad international image... but all their ideas are just refused by most part of the population.

Apparently you aren't. I'm however from the other side of the Röstigraben ;-)

Same as LordOfThePigs here. Count me in as another one who didn't get the connection with this SVP/UDC banner and band-aids. They sell band-aids of unknown origin in the streets? That's TRWTF! Maybe I just don't look like needing band-aids, or band-aid is used as a synonym for Bolivian Marching Powder(TM).

As for women's voting rights, it's a fake problem. Before 1971 it was usually wifey who told hubby what to vote. And hubby better complied, if he didn't want to be on the sofa for a month. :)

Make the spark plug fit:- The important thing with a plug is the heat range which is determined by the protrusion of the centre electrode. The two plugs in the picture are a completely different heat range. Having said that at least the backyard mechanic had enough sense to space out the plug so it did not contact the cylinder at the top of the stroke. In an emergency it can get you out of trouble. Where is the WTF ?

Then on the subject of roof tiles... Salmiak refers to ammonium chloride - the stuff used to make the salty licorice. Also sometimes used in electrical batteries. (WTF) It might taste like roof tiles to you but some people just love eating the stuff. Great for a sore throat !

  • (cs)

And the thing behind the salmiak dollhouse roof tiles is an International Reply Coupon. Which is funny because Finns invented IRC. I mean, the IRC, not this IRC. Damn it!

At least one SVP defender was dumb enough to defend that poster in comments to a blog posting -- on a satire blog!

And look at all the helpful capitalization: "UND NOCH WAS: die SVP ist nicht RADIKAL!!" ("AND ANOTHER THING: the SVP is not RADICAL!!")

    The posting is here: http://gerhard.psy-q.ch/blog/?p=23

The Denglisch is on purpose, but probably only funny to people who speak both languages :(

  • Kempeth (unregistered)

Man. For such a long time there where no souvenirs from switzerland at all and now there's suddenly two in the same post...

The SVP pulls crap like that all the time. But luckily their stuff rarely comes through though.
