Re:Laser Chase Obviously that's a picture of a lizard.
A terrible lizard.
Admin
Turns out a simple laser pointer can distract a T-rex long enough to get away. This will all be in the next Jurassic Park movie.
Captcha: minim. the amount of brain needed to write the web banner in this post. The banner was written by someone with minim thought process.

a mighty and terrible lizard, of the likes of which will ravage japan

You're supposed to attach the laser to the shark's head.

That's not February 30th, it's the 2nd of Trigintember

Who cares if it's right or wrong: that elevator indicator is gorgeous!

Why is there a crease in the CD? did you fold it in half? You do know that also voids the warranty, right?

And as far as "open hear" goes-- note to designers: Do not give a voice to any product that is destined to be sliced open. Think of the psyche of the poor shipper/receiver.
"You still wake up sometimes, don’t you? Wake up in the dark and hear the screaming of the boxes."

All praise the WTF van, ready to transport Alex and Irish Girl around the world!

Hp need to sort there boxes out....

There is a patent on laser chase: US Patent number 5,443,036.
Admin
Amusingly, none of the 'pets' on the laser pointer package look like they are actually enjoying it. The owl looks particularly p*ssed off =D

Er... am I missing something with the projector? It is upside down (probably due to some overheating issue), there is a flip-gizmo, that should return the image to normal (good idea)... Then there is a laptop which is configured to flipped output, resulting in a flipped image? I think something is not right with that particular tale...
Admin
Ooh... can I set something up that looks stupid, take a picture and claim I saw it somewhere else?
(c'mon, really, who's actually stupid enough to turn their projector upside down on a table AND smart enough to know how to flip their screen???)
Admin
The gizmo isn't hooked up; it's just being used to prop up the projector.
Admin
I want to be on your team. Pick me, pick me!
Admin
Anon at 09:40 is right: the patent specifically applies to laser-chase and cats. So, don't use cats on your packaging.
Admin
Having bought RAM from G.Skill before, I don't think they outsourced that one.

I was a bit baffled by the projector (other than: haha someone did a funny) until I read the comments and people seemed to get part way there in an explanation. Possibly... projector overheats, someone decideds to turn it upside down for better airfow out the bottom vents, and uses the upside-down gizmo... then gets a newer laptop with decent graphics drivers that allow you to flip the image anyway, so they unplug the new redundant gizmo, keeping it there cos it improves the airflow, or cos they're lazy. Not very amusing, but there ya go.

The "VGA Flipper" is a bit of a WTF in and of itself.
Prety much every not-a-cheap-toy-for-home-use projector manufactured in at least the past 10+ years has the the ability to flip images both horizontally (for rear-projection aplications) and vertically (for ceiling-mounted applications) built in, as in not needing an external box or screwing with video card settings....
Including the NEC shown in the picture.
Most projectors (It's been long enough since I've seen that particular projector, I'll be general) either do airflow front-to-back or side-to-side so it's unlikely that overheating would be a reason for using the projector in the pictured state.

Clearly the roadworks sign is using M/Y/D or D/Y/M formatting. And giving advanced warning of some works in 2029 - 2030.

"Needless to say, I don't agree to the license agreements terms," writes Thomas Alexander Dark, "I'm not sure what's the bigger WTF, that you have to agree with an agreement you can't see or that this CD came with my Legal Studies textbook."
Or that it's called "Access and Justice" when access is what's causing the problem...
Admin
Isn't "Open Hear" just another marketing slogan? It's as meaningful as any HP slogan I've seen.
Admin
Comment hear? No, comment read.

Whiteout fail! (What does the side of the van say?)
Admin
But only if the cat moves at a speed between five and twenty-five feet per second. So maybe you could use a fat cat on the packaging.

Don't be silly. The ramp is closed from the 11th day of the 29th month to the 30th day of the 30th month. C'mon, people.

Shortly after DDR2-800 was the new hotness, I picked up 4GB of gSkill and ran it overclocked by 25-30 MHz on the FSB (before the multiplier) for years without a problem.
Or should I say...

DOES JAMES CAMERON KNOW?

He invented it.

The makers of that textbook must be hoping that their clients are stupid. I would hope that most law students know that you can't be bound by the conditions of a contract you can't read.
Admin
As to the 'laser toy,' that frankly worries me. Good way to blind someone or otherwise stuff their eyesight IMHO, regardless of how 'low-powered' it is. OTOH … a good game to play late at night is to shine one of those on to a) the pavement ('sidewalk' for you Colonials) about three feet in front of a drunk, or b) the back of someone's coat, if their friends are walking a few paces back. Then switch it off if the 'victim' tries to investigate it. Hilarity typically ensues. ;)
Finally, the 'licence sticker outside' phenomenon has existed since at least the mid-1980s to my certain knowledge, although I thought it had died a death by now. As others have correctly stated, you can't enforce a contract which one of the parties hasn't read yet. How old did you say that textbook was, exactly? :D

That crease looks like the same crease you see in CD labels that are applied by hand. Surely that is not an adhesive label applied by hand?
Admin
So it can play with the mutant sea bass?

Admin
If you watch closely you'll see it's not an actual CD but just a container for the CD with a CD printed on it. The seal covers the opening.

What, no subthread here on floor numbering systems, a perennial topic for geek arguments? That elevator seems to be in a building with more negative floor numbers than positive; is it mostly underground?

I am quite certain that the "video flipper" switch thing is actually an 8-port Linsys Gigabit Switch. I have one that looks exactly like that. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16833124258

The projector is easy to explain. A lot of projectors can only project horizontally or upwards, so if this one is on a shelf or ledge high up you have a choice of turning the projector itself upside down, or pointing it downward and getting a distorted image that requires keystone correction.
The inverter was probably an earlier attempt to solve the problem by someone who really misunderstood what was wrong.
Admin
fixed it for you.
