Really? I didn't know that. My shop is using a tool based on Java 1.3 (which forces me to develop to the same JDK level for related apps), and I'm doing everything I can to rip it out.
Maybe that's why Oracle bought Sun. They didn't know they got JDK upgrades for free :)

A piece of paper (or similar) is not the only plane.
Even if you walk in a straight line along the earth's surface you are not walking in a straight line (according to many of you).
Please define a straight line for me, and then explain why we do not use (quite) your definition in real world applications in engineering and physics (which assume {albeit on the small scale} that many such lines are straight).
