    Yes, my boss bought a copy of "The Last One" in the early 1980s and asked me to evaluate it. I managed to write a few simple programs using it, then looked at the output it produced - a 7th level of Hell rat's nest written in MS-Basic was the output. I still wake some nights screaming!

    Having said that, it's fine art to figure out exactly how much you can give them before it starts to become a problem. But if you nose right up to that line, it's a fine, fine thing.

    I didn't know he was joking. It wasn't funny to me until I thought of what I said, so I wasn't explaining a joke, but making a new one, if you interpret the situation the way I did.

    Looking back at the post I responded to, I guess I can see how that might be considered funny.

    I got shut down the other day when I tried this at my house, because make was installed on an NFS mount and root didn't have sufficient privileges. (also known as the husband was too lazy and had to come up with a logical excuse.)

    Then you apparently have a really old version, because that joke about lighting a man on fire has been around for a number of versions already.

    You'll probably also have to update some of the dependencies like "irony.h" and "sarcasm_detector.h", of course judging by some of your other comments it seems these are likely out of date anyway.

    Actually, "Who hasn't done something like this?" was a real quote from me, but was meme-ified by fake frits, who is also fake boog, fake Nagesh, and a host of others. Additioanlly, there are probably additional sock puppeteers who piggy-back on the fake names as well.

    I'm sure fake boog is really disappoint that you think he is me. I think as far as he's concerned, we're all lame, and he is superior in intellect and humor.

    By the way, there was one comment thread a while where fake frits posted about 70 fake posts quoting himself essentially saying "no my name is frits" over and over. Good times.

    What all this has to do with self-replication I don't know...
