    About the PDF: correct me if i'm wrong, but I guess it makes perfect sense. They use a functionality of Adobe Reader 8 (filling in forms), although the document may be viewed in earliers versions, or PDF readers of other vendors.

    But agreed: it still is somewhat strange ;)

    Maybe your brain has been melted by the idiots above with the lolcat-speak, but... base64 isn't encryption. It's a cipher/encoding. It's only encryption if you do it a few times, as previously featured on this site.

    EDIT: further note - for double the data security, apply rot13 encoding twice instead of only once.
