And if a joke has to be explained, it couldn't have been that funny to begin with. Sigh.
But it wasn't a joke, it was an in-joke.

If you haven't watched the movie (and don't know the original short story's title), then you don't get it.

For those in the know, it's funny, all others need to have it explained.

So don't let that comment stop you from making movie/book references.

TDWTF is usually good for a typo or two, but this article has used up the allotment for the whole week.

    It wasn't a joke. It an in-joke

+1 to that. I'm glad I searched 'url' string in the comments list to make sure that someone already thought that.

Captcha: tego (not sure if it's appropriate, but it's second time I'm posting to TDWTF in last 8 years, so I can't pass such opportunity)

TRWTF is that you can even fopen($directoryurl, "r") and expect to get anything valid...

    It's $directoryurl. Not $directorypath.

I fully expect that what's being passed is something akin to http://images.example.com/path/to/directory and they're relying on the directory index. (Hence the need to remove the tags from the output.)

Sorry... my last comment was regarding to quote above

But you should make it an exception, not a rule.
You could make it a rule of thump.

All this rubbish can be replaced by one line of code...

    $images = is_dir( $path) ? glob( "$path/*.{png,jpg,jpeg,gif}", GLOB_BRACE) : array();

Hail to all these rubbish php books and selfphp!

Hmm, I saw the original movie (long time ago) but didn't know it was based on a book. Time for a trip to half-price books!

Please do. Also while you're there, try to pick up more of Phillip K. Dick's work. You'll be surprised how many classic (and not so classic) scifi movies are based on his stories.

Not long ago I read "Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?" (the "source" of Blade Runner) and I have to say I was not very impressed. I'm going to give Dick one more chance (HAR!), and if I don't like the next one I read, I'm just going to have to assume his work is not for me.
