i remember Zork 2. it's quite frustrating, because the evil wizard you are trying to get rid of keeps popping up and random and tormenting you. he might make you Float in the air for ten turns, or he might make you Fall, which WILL kill you, and worst of all is "Filch", which makes an item vanish! there are lots of things he might do, all of which start with "F". i can only remember one more: Freeze. to win, you need to find 3 orbs, used them to summon a demon, then collect some treasures and give them to the demon. one time the wizard did "Filch" on one of the ORBS, which made the game unwinnable, and i had to restart. if that happens to a treasure, you can still win, fortunately. i only won because i found a loophole: if you summon the demon and give him a few treasures, the wizard will appear and try to stop you, but fail. after than, he will just stand around in the room with the demon, allowing you to collect the rest of the treasures without interference!
