The "You save -30.00" WTF is a simple one (we get similar problems with our website all the time). Their system has inputs for 2 prices (list and sale) and someone raised the sale price without raising the list price.

This is a human error WTF. But it's nice to know that other people do it too.

Still a system error. The system shouldn't allow entry of a sale price higher than the list price.

The golf score is probably the number of strokes that he is behind the winner. This would also jive with the fact that a very bad finish results in the highest negative score and a very good finish results in negative scores closer to 0. They post the winners score and all other scores are relative to the winners score.

Yeah, but the other one is more interesting. Apparently you save abs(list_price - sale_price)! You win either way!

Thank you, I was gonna say that. The message displayed is entirely controlled by the programmer who writes it.

    pcooper:
The price that looks like $10.95 crossed out is actually $18.95 crossed out. IE puts the crossbar in exactly the right spot so that one can't distinguish between a crossed-out 0 and a crossed-out 8.

This has caused confusion for our customers on our web site as well.

    BLs:
I was wondering if anyone other than me had caught that it wasn't a WTF.

I still count it as a WTF. You should be using a font where you can tell the difference between a crossed out 8 and 0. Or don't cross it out.

I was going to say the same thing, but as I was typing, it occurred to me that since the list price is the MSRP it's entirely possible the sale price could change and be higher than the list price.

Also depends on your definition of "sale" price: is that the "on sale" (i.e, discounted) or "regular" sale price?

Either way, the sale price could be higher than the list price. If by sale you mean the "on sale" (as opposed to the regular sale price), then if the MSRP is $100, but the merchant chooses to charge $110, but has it "on sale" for $105, the "on sale" and "regular sale" price are both higher than the list price.

Error Code 73024: Error Manual Help Error The Error Manual help text does not explain how to fix the reported error. How to fix: correct the manual and republish.
Addendum to Revised Information on Error Code 73024 Please note that, where the manual now states that "The problem can be resolved by changing directory to '/' and entering the command 'rm -Rf *', this is not strictly correct.

We meant to say, not that "The problem can be resolved," but that "The problem will disappear."

    Re Juan-Pablo Montoya

I was yakkin with me mates, Paddy and Macca. Paddy said "Aye, my boy is doin very well. He's a doctor now, earns hulf a million pounds ea' year!" Macca chimes in "Och, my boy's doin very very well. He's a lawyer, makes over 1M pounds a year!" So I says to 'em "ay, well my young fella leaves youse in the dust.. he's a sports mechanic, brings home $3M easy before June!" The others ask me "what's a sports mechanic?"

Well, I'm not real sure, but he comes home n says he's fixin' boxin, fixin wrestlin, fixin greyhounds, fixin car races..

You're right, it is a system error.

However, there are (possible) reasons that the sale price might need to be higher, depending on the the store in question...

What the system definitely shouldn't do, though, is display the "you save" line (and probably even the "list price" line) if the difference is negative.

The treasury doesn't have denomination with cents in them, but the post office does. Sheets of stamps are treated as bills in most ATMs. Therefore you can have a bill with cents in it (the price of which is about to go up).

Back in the dark ages when I worked on mainframes, we had this shelf of books to explain all the possible error messages. These were in a strict format, with the error code, text of the message, explanation, and how to fix it. The idea of having the book tell me how to fix my bugs sounded really handy. Until I discovered that for about 90% of the possible errors, the helpful text was "Correct the problem and resubmit." Like, wow, thanks, I never would have thought of doing that!
    Augh, JCL!

These are cruel and unusual memories you're bringing back here.

Remember the PROC? I once worked in a shop with a fellow who took on the task of standardizing the JCL in all PROCs. We dubbed him our resident PROCTologist.

Of course we have to buy drivers. All golfers have to buy drivers. Mike Weir has to buy drivers. I would like to buy a driver like Mike Weir's so I can score 69 under par.
