They've updated the image. If you go to the URL now, you see that after the "MyFirstSexTeacher" one, there is a thedailwtf window as well. Seems like they noticed the attention.

  • eric (unregistered)

I went to that Orange site just now, and the image shows an IE window open for thedailywtf.com too.

So apparently the image was changed, but the pr0n window wasn't edited out. Go figure.

  • holli (unregistered)

I'm far away from accusing Alex of viral marketing, but at least now there is a TDWTF icon next to the first sex teacher.

  • jtl (unregistered)

ROFL, they added the DailyWTF but did not remove the sex page!

    damn. beaten again =)

    Check http://www.orangelabel.com/icons.htm again.

They haven't removed the NSFW item in the taskbar, but they have added another site of interest right next to it...

You should really go and take a look at the orange page again. They added a new tab...

  • TuxRug (unregistered)

http://www.orangelabel.com/icons.htm The myfirstsexteacher.com window is still open, but now thedailywtf.com is open in another window :).

  • Yanman (unregistered) in reply to Yanman

And in under 3 minutes too!

Which magnifies the thrill. I'm thrilled and excited, I don't know why.

The real WTF is that they have built a whole design company around the photographing-printouts-on-wooden-table principles, only they use magazines...

Truly the guys at Orange Label have a sense of humour! As for their right-alinged site design...

  • Sid2K7 (unregistered)

OrangeLabel obviously got their act together. I mean: TDWTF is read mainly by experts. We all need icons at one point or the other, and who is gonna forget about OrangeLabel anytime soon?

Oh, and I am pretty sure the "NSFW"-Link was intentional in the first place. Brilliant.

    WTF is a "sagaciter"?

  • Me (unregistered) in reply to Sid2K7

I had already forgotten OrangeLabel by the time I read your post.

  • pijusmaximus (unregistered)

    icons?

image.google.com / small images have all...

  • BigTuna (unregistered)

It's intentional... it's an immaculate conception joke.

  • me (unregistered)

Hey look at the webpage now - it has the daily wtf in a tab next to it.

Hehe.. exact same thing I thought. Seriously, I can't even remember what pr0n was like before tabs. *shudder*

FYI: The guys at OrangeLabel.com apparently read the dailyWTF, because the splash ad now has "thedailywtf.com" opened in IE next to "MyFirstSexTeacher".

Damn you for beating me to this. I noticed that myself when I followed the link.

  • Code Slave (unregistered)

But did you see what they added to then end after MyFirst...?

    http://www.orangelabel.com/i/head_icon_en.jpg

  • Tim (unregistered)

To me TRWTF is a design firm saying that they have no idea who was the first person to create an icon on a computer. Finding the specific engineer (it was probably an engineer at first) might not be easy but the company or group should be doable... That they don't know, fine. But don't brag about it!

Kudos for the sense of humor with the thedailywtf.com link though

  • me (unregistered)

They did it after I spoke to them through their contact form - I sent them a link to the article. Sorry conspiracy guys.

  • consequat (unregistered)

Ok, now who was the one that SQL injected their site???

I know they are running PHP 4.4.4-8 on Debian with Apache 2.2.3 and open SSL 0.9.8g

but that isn't any reason to abuse them!!

That might be a sign that they were intentional about it.

Looking around at their site a bit more, they seem to be a little more "adult" or "edgy" than "professional."

  • Dirk (unregistered)

Is it already too late to point out that they added thedailywtf.com to their ad?

  • Erik (unregistered)

if you look on the site now, they've added thedailywtf.com to the list!

  • (cs) in reply to Dirk

Anyone care to place a gentleman's bet on how many total comments will be something related to the thedailywtf tab being there and the sexteacher not being removed?

  • Stephen Bayer (unregistered) in reply to JDeepBeep

did you notice that the thedailywtf was added?

Just kidding, yeah, the amount of posts on that is getting rather ridiculous. But it was a very good marketing idea. I know I googled "Orange Icon Design" and found their site as soon as I saw this post, just to see if I could find it, before the actual address was posted. I bet their traffic has been increased 10 fold, because of this supposed "mistake".

  • car912 (unregistered)

Apparently only English speakers read TDWTF, but myfirstsexteacher is multi-lingual

Also, the shadowing on the bottom of the crease is different too.

John FTW! It's definitely edgy material, suggesting that the only woman in history to get pregnant without having sex would make a good sex teacher.

  • Mr.T (unregistered)

I suppose that the placed the MyFirstSexTeacher.com-IE window there as a marketing method, I mean they get now thousands of hits because it appeared on tdwtf.com and I assume a lot of you will show it to others, too.

  • Chris (unregistered) in reply to is that my computer?

Also noted that the ACDsee filename is something to the effect of !!!!! probably short for !!!!!hotmomdoesstudentsexhotfun.jpg

which i think we all know is newsgroup porn. =)

Better yet, it would be interesting to start a pool regarding how long the MySexTeacher.com tab stays there... Another hour? End of the day? Anybody?

  • Rhys (unregistered)

Was it worrying my first thought was "what is a web design company doing using IE6?!?!"

  • synter (unregistered) in reply to jtl

When there wouldn't been the sex page in the taskbar, then the DailyWTF alone wouldn't make so much sense, don't you think? :)

If a web design company *isn't* testing their work in IE6 (in addition to other IE7 and Firefox) then they're not seeing their work as a large number of visitors will.

More likely a "virgin birth" joke. "Immaculate Conception" refers to the Catholic belief that Mary was born without "original sin".

Its a viral marketing campaign, and a good one that at. Kudos to their promotional team for taking the bold move of publish the ad with such an obvious flaw, and then attracting wide attention from the various audience they intend to serve -- us (developers).
