A pointless article that barely relates to programming. The person that wrote this has also been inhaling too many "non-conforming" products.

The original Beetle was a Porsche.

Now I get it. You seem to think that anything vaguely related in some respect can be considered equivalent...
It was designed by Ferdinand Porsche in 1931, the same year as the Porsche company was founded, and a good 14 years before the first commercial Porsche car appeared. I'm not sure how much more "it's a Porsche" you can get.
Aha! You're mistaking the signified for the signifier. (Pointless drunken reference to Saussure.)
A useful exercise, though. I've just realised that the problem with this site isn't (a) the change of name (b) the hilarious confusion between reply/quote -- I think we've all got that sorted out by now; or (c) that Alex is clearly the spawn of the Devil.
No, wait. I was channelling June Cleaver there. Sorry.
The problem is that it's difficult to match up the enterprisey XML-ish parentheses, particularly once you've got a tree that's three deep or more. And don't even get me started on quoting more than one correspondent at a time.
I don't expect Alex to fix this. He's got better things to do, like plan for an IPO once the current credit crunch disappears and the PRC wants to invest in the site.
... but somebody out there must be able to write some piece of shit in Perl that actually does this better?
You'd still be stuck with a browser interface, though, so I'm not saying it's going to be easy.
Addendum (2007-08-03 20:50): Which just proves my point. Or at least quantifies the amount of chartreuse I've drunk.
A five minute timeout, and I can't even move all the "
" crap in time. At least the end result was more or less correct. I just happened to notice that "gwenhyfaer" had failed to quote "poopdeville," and tried to correct it. I didn't even bother to try to correct "Rich (unregistered)" on the question of whether Adolph Hitler had a hand in designing the Volksvagen Mk I. Albert Speer would be a better bet.
Although I'm sure Hitler would have come out with some nice pastel colours, though.

Yeah, that's the real WTF. I was expecting him to come to your house with a pair of burly men with baseball bats.

When I saw the title, I remembered a story a DBA told me about how their ex-boss threw a shit fit about how what was basically a CSV file didn't have the company logo included in it.

My wife teaches school. Some parents thought it would be cute to name their children after car model names. One kid was named Corvette - she was the lucky one. Another was named Chevette.

Here we go again with Cod3r posting flamebait...
sigh

Am I the only one that snickered at this? Red == 3x faster, etc. etc.

The real WTF is that the author didn't charge them thousands of Dollars for his copy of the source code when they lost theirs :-)

Thanks for the reminder of just how unbelievably fucking ugly cars were in the late 70s and early 80s. The horror!
It's all relative. I grew up in th 60s and I now see how many of the cars that were then ugly and 'uncool' are now classics, commanding substantial prices.

sure.
Try to match this. Few years ago, everybody in the hood had those. Now you can buy one for about 100 € if you are lucky ;) Too bad I drive one (from 1985) now as my shining Mazda is being fixed..

Doesn't matter anyway. As long as the car has excellent parts and function that's enough for me, don't want to replace my car's auto parts time and time again, so quality counts best.Just recently I have replaced my Yugo catalytic converter. I am still contemplating on the idea of joining a race on our area...Sounds cool to me...

You were lucky... I've seen enough situations where the person in your position was blamed for the disaster and fired instead of the manager.

so dope
Addendum 2023-04-05 12:40: I was looking for a way to create multiple logos for my business without having to spend a lot of money hiring a graphic designer. I stumbled upon a website that offered a logo maker tool, and I decided to give it a try. Using the make a logo , I was able to create several logos that I was happy with. I customized the font, colors, and icon to match my brand. The best part was that I could download all the logos in different formats, making it easy to use them across various platforms.
