So, for the frist one, I'm guessing no one at TDWTF has ever seen a fuzzy search, then?

For most use cases, it's not a great fuzzy search. It's very effective when searching for file names, function names, etc. Perhaps the word 'heavy' doesn't occur, and thare the low scoring results?

I suppose one interpretation of Virgin Atlantic's situation is that the 787 disappeared without a trace somewhere over the ocean and they hastily substituted a 737 they already had in the USA. So they flew it triumphantly to JFK for the big pre-planned media reception and hoped nobody would notice the sleight of hand.
Now that's a magic trick worthy of David Copperfield. ;)

In Excel, you can set a custom error alert title for the data validation rule, which seems to be the case here.

I've posted a question about that search over on the Eve Online subreddit, just to see if there is a reason for the search to work that way. I can't think of one, but I haven't touched that game in about a decade.
I'll let you know if I get any useful responses.

Somehow in flight they lost 50 of whatever those are measuring.

If you look at the results, he got a bunch of "Navy Issue" ships, with the "avy" in "Navy" matching the "avy" in "heavy". They also all have "h" and "e" in that order in the name before "Navy". It's even highlighted the matching letters in the results to clue you in to what's going on. Given that I can't think of any ships in Eve Online that have the word "heavy" in them, this is probably as close as it could get.

The real WTF is the cost of an MRI... Seriously, the problem with healthcare in the US isn't so much the health insurance system, but the sheer cost of medical acts. Nowhere else in the world does an MRI cost $2800! It's 4 times as expensive as, say, in France or in Canada.

That excel message is just terribly worded to start with, even ignoring the title.
"Someone set..."!? Just say "The data validation rule on this cell requires you to choose an item from the drop-down list." Concise. To the point. Not written like some awful attempt at a short story.

Again, that message is not an Excel message. It's written by the person(s) who wrote and formatted the spreadsheet, not MSFT.
Yes it's incompetent UI design. As is nearly everything ordinary people create with Excel.
