Renée means 'born again' (in French, feminin shape), so it seems quite a suitable name for a person that re-surrected a re-port during the Christmas period...

Latest re-sult from the newly generated TMS report: 1 (Total Merlins Sacked)

Merry Christmas! Even Santa needs QA.

Thank you for the amazing all-too-real Christmas story!

Expected a terrible Rudolph the RED-NNOSE'd reindeer at the end

    For a moment I read "snow-stopping bug".

"Well, that's got to be a violation of HR policies,"... wouldn't that be ER?

  • Decius (unregistered)

TRWTF is that there wasn't already an Elven Resources policy to sack and/or banish people who contracted vital services to vendors for the Astral Plane.

  • Gene Wirchenko (unregistered)

No, snow stopping would be a bug of its own.

  • Aankhen (unregistered)

    Bravo, Remy! This is tops.

This feels like something that would be nice to read, but I gave up less than half way through with all the questionable theming. Is the original story available, or is it a new one?

  • Klimax (unregistered)

"Santa'd play fast and loose with customs, but nobody wants to mess with GDPR, mostly because nobody seems to understand what it actually entails" And TRWTF. GDPR is not that hard and it was USAian corporations that were one of main causes.

  • Dave (unregistered) in reply to Klimax

GDPR is a complete mess. It's impossible to find out whether a proposed use of data is lawful where it's anything other than the standard mailing list stuff the drafters thought of.

You won't believe how spot on your first two paragraphs are.

In my case, it's an old version of JD Edwards. And our wizard also has an apprentice. Both of them have been babysitting it for at least 25 years. Naturally, these guys are also in charge of the payroll system (built in-house, obviously).

  • (nodebb) in reply to Dude

Are you not a believer in this theming? Because at your age, it's marginal, right?

  • Dude (unregistered) in reply to jeremypnet

It's just a bit much for my taste, and it makes it difficult for me to follow the story, since I keep trying to associate the themed concepts with more real-world ones and apparently don't have enough memory to do so effectively.

    Also, get off my lawn.

  • tbo (unregistered)

I would love to reread this without the holiday theme because that just made it harder to follow.

  • Franq (unregistered) in reply to Dude

Agreed, I want entertainment not this mess of fake jargon

  • (nodebb)

    Loved it.

  • Mister Muso (google)

"Dude" should have read more novels when he was in school.
