And this is why you should keep business accounts separate from private ones on all services. Same for phone numbers, emails and literally everything else.

GDPR ( (EU) 2016/679 ) gives you the right to request that a controller (e.g., a company, a government agency, or an association) promptly rectify any inaccurate personal data concerning you.

After multiple instances of less-than-helpful customer support, I've started emailing the address listed in their imprint directly. So far, these representatives have been a lot more helpful.

I can also second European's suggestion of throwing the GDPR at them. Preferably directly to their data protection officer. Helped a friend of mine with a different company.

I'm not sure if the GDPR is applicable in this case. It only applies to natural persons. But having (had) a VAT number implies a company (i.e. a non-natural person).

Time to close or abandon both those accounts, and open a third fresh one with no old addresses or old VAT numbers.

Oh yes, this is horrible. There is, however, a way to manage those VAT settings, with a link buried deep in their documentation. I just google it each time: https://www.amazon.pl/VAT_registration

Of course, this doesn't solve the problem entirely, because Amazon will now issue an invoice for each purchase, but at least there's an "Edit" button there. I still recommend a separate account, though.

What the VAT number is might be a company thing - yourself being associated with that business should be a personal thing, so I'd hope it's still applicable.

I know it's not quite the same thing but every time I try to log in to the UK tax office website, they offer me a choice of sending an SMS to my mobile or a voice-call to my long-defunct landline. Unfortunately it's not possible to remove the landline from my account because it is not recorded against the account.

    Customer support chatbots are TRWTF.
