EDIT: Bah, wrong topic.
This FP story is OK, though it's a shame it didn't start with "Bear with me on this one".
Also, no instructions for said shotgun:
Then again, this story is supposed to be set in Arkansas...
Admin
So why was Chris called in?
Admin
TRWTF was not muting his phone before going to bed.
Admin
Manager looks at a bear related problem and thinks "I can solve that with a shotgun". Now you've got two problems.
Admin
So the WTF here is that Jake, thinks its a good idea to wake an employee in the middle of the night while on vacation so that he can come into the office to snap a few insurance photos? Which Jake could probably do himself with the very same cell phone used to call Chris in about the same amount of time?
Seriously I'd be kind a pissed if my boss dragged me out of bed to "assist" with a situation he knows or should know I can't make any useful contribution to solving. Jake is an ass.
Admin
5SOF, you heard about them here first.
Admin
Yeah, though maybe it's loaded with slugs. That might work.
Admin
Where's the WTF? It's Arkansas or is that TRWTF?
Admin
And staying home for vacation. He still could have just lied: "I'm out of town. Can't get there."
Admin
Let's see:
Yeah, a shotgun in an office seems like a good idea.
Admin
Double duty!
Admin
Yeah, can be used by either the crazy ex-employee or the people trying to stop him!
Admin
Eh, it's almost certain that the crazy ex-employ will be bringing his own from home.
Admin
Now, with that loaded gun, let's do a serious bug hunting session.
Admin
Meh. Probably several employees already packing heat.
Admin
Because Arkansas? or because 'Murica?
Admin
I an disappointed in our front page editors. this was the perfect opportunity to use a pun and have the title be: "Bearly Broken In"
Admin
Indeed. Overkill would be an apt description.
I'd have looked at putting stronger glass and maybe security grilles in the windows. An ounce of prevention...

Admin
Both.
Let's put it this way: if the Batman shooter had tried that in Detroit, I can guarantee there would have been return fire.
Admin
If the office didn't want a bear to break in, they should have but up a 'No Bears' sign.
Admin
... is worth a pound of buckshot?
Admin
wait, we're upgrading from shotgun to puntgun?

I'm surprised nobody has pointed out that the threat of bears has been very well-publicized (see below), and Jeff was a poor manager to have utterly failed to anticipate and take appropriate precautions to mitigate the threat.

Admin
What would access to a shotgun do to my tax code?

Requested range? What range? Of what? :wtf:

what browser are you using?
Admin
Opera 27.0.1689.69 on Linux.
It's not even the browser error page. It's just text. No, not HTML, source contains nothing else.
Admin
odd.... image loads just fine for me

Admin
Chrome does the same thing. Firefox is fine.
wget
doesn't complain.Chalk it down to WebKit I guess.
Admin
i guess... but if so it's a linux specific thing as i'm on Chrome on W7 here.
Admin
Now that should be effective against a bear.
Admin
Yes, I get the same as @Onyx with Chrome on Linux.
Admin
Several problems with that approach:
Unless you're using slugs, which requires good aim, you're just going to piss the bear off.
This assumes the bear isn't between the person and the shotgun.
The shotgun will sit on that peg for years, and IF the day comes when it's needed, your shells will be stale and you will likely have a misfire.
Not everyone can keep cool enough to operate a weapon effectively when their life is threatened. That's what military and police training is about. I've seen "hunters" miss shots at 100 yards with a 9x scope because they get too excited by "Buck fever."
You'd be better off with a big plastic bowl of hard rock candy that you could throw at the bear to keep them interested while you GTFO.
Admin
Admin
Leave the taffy in the bowl for a year, and you'll have hard rock candy. :)
Admin
But that would have given away the punchline, such as it was.
Admin
Spoiler that shit. Some people have a slug phobia!

First thing that came to mind after reading this article.

Admin
Sorry, I have no idea how to properly spoil an image, it just didn't work at all. Wait, why do we have a Sweetie Bell emoticon here? :wtf:
Admin
You answered your own question:
Here on TDWTF, we have made Doing It Wrong™ into an artform.
Admin
I think I have been to that place in Arkansas before. Maybe.
Admin
Admin
That's the only part I'll let either of my kids watch, too. ;-)
Admin
So they don't grow into attention-begging douchebags? I approve.
Admin
Hopefully it was at least a double-barreled shotgun. Or even better, a chainsaw.
