And this is why you have a defined change management process with all the involved teams responsible for approving the change and ensuring all necessary info is provided first.
It won't make any difference, sure, but at least now you have a very clear proof that you did everything correctly and therefore any problems are the other guy's fault.

One of the most depressing stories I have read, mainly because it drags me back to a time in my career that I really could have done without experiencing.
It doesn't matter that I am now in a far better place in my life, this took me straight back to hell.

Damn I am glad, that I don't need to work with you.
If you have more company process or practise to cover your ass than to assist on complicated tasks: Get a new management or run. If you have an service provider that doesn't treat your problems as his own: Get a new one.

I'm never ashamed of my past. I wear my battle scars with pride, like a legionnaire or a chef at the local hibachi.

Trouble is, others higher than you have already drunk the outsourcing koolaid, they swallowed the slick marketing and then regurgitated it up-stream to their superiors to green light the project. Failure is much less damaging to them than admitting they're wrong, and you'll get the blame either way.
Unless you've got the right sort of friends in the right sort of places to weather the storm, you may as well get your CV up to date and spend your notice period writing this sort of article for TDWTF.

I am an horrible person and should say that I laughed to my tears the first time I read this, and again this time. Sad thing is that I was in a similar situation in the previous company. Glad I did get out of that mess.

I don't see comment I made previously.

Kinda reminds me of the time when I was working as the Infra guy for a supermarket chain in my country.
The chain was actually owned by a group outside the country, they just deployed a new data center in $AnotherCountryInSameRegion and asked us to migrate our servers there. This "request" had already started 4 months before I joined. Five months later (so, a total of 9 months) the migration was complete.
Then supermarket chain in my country was sold to a local conglomerate. We are asked to migrate the servers back. Management offered me to contract the same contractor, I just said, "We'll do it ourselves." Three weeks later, all 25 servers had returned to the chain's datacenter.
