TRWTF are endless loops?
Admin
Maybe @PaulaBean is supposed to post it on the partner site, and we know how Brillantly it worked over here...
Filed under: See this post for more info
Admin
Is this one of those "How do you keep an idiot busy?" things?
Admin
TRWTF is people who say, "I'll paste the link in after I'm done with the writeup" and then forget to paste the link in after they're done with the write up.
Admin
Fixed, BTW.
Admin
Ugh...TRWTF with that was the animated gif to distract you from the story.
I like the idea of a code base that crashes the compiler, though.
Admin
Three words: Internal Compiler Error.

Three words: Immediate Resignation Letter.

I probably still have some old code somewhere that contains a few "workarounds" (in code) to prevent nvcc (the CUDA compiler) from crashing when compiling that code.
Admin
Yeah, but these guys threw that stuff without the workarounds at a new guy!
Also, I'm familiar with the concept of a compiler bug. But you'd think something like VB6 wouldn't have had those problems. Unless it was just too much for the machine and ran out of memory or something. Or something made up for the story. I prefer to believe it was MS' incompetence, however.
Admin
Wait ... I'm supposed to read the article before commenting on it? :moving_goal_post:
Yeah, yeah, sorry, I'll read it.
Admin
In a community of pendants like this one? Just be ready.
Admin
... and the article is behind two links that I'd have to follow. :moving_goal_post: indeed.

" Dan seemed to operate under the impression that telephones weren’t actually connected to anything, and if he wanted to be heard, he had to shout loud enough that his voice could travel to the person on the other end"
Geez, my closest coworker, whose office is right across the hall from me, is like that. She has a headset, but she doesn't wear it when training. Instead, she yells into the speakerphone. :wtf:
Admin
Actually, with VB6 it could be easier than your expectation (assuming you don't know how frequent it is)
I once was responsible for a VB6 project, and the project contains custom made user controls that crashs the IDE at least twice a day when it loads.
Admin
Or "Automatic user control propagation from project to toolbar" at work
Admin
In my experience any attempt to use the GUI resource editor in VB6 meant a crash. VC6 wasn't much better.
Yet I've known people who only gave up VB6 and VC6 within the last few years, mostly because no one would touch their stuff anymore.

So let me get this: TRWTF is that someone who's actually supposedly a competent web-designer is in fact either too self-important or too incompetent to get his head round a simple bit of debugging? Dan dodged a bullet there.
