What's the issue for the weather one?
Admin
"Wind chill values as low as 120 below"
Admin
The "1 comments" is the least of TDWTF's worries. There are bigger issues, like periodic crashes; weird login situation; user-unfriendly commenting - formatting, "moderation", lack of email notifications for replies, silly "editing" feature; am I missing anything?
Admin
I'd add tiresome much-guesswork required CAPTCHAS to the list. But you're off to an excellent start Sir.
In fact just now I got a "find all the crosswalks" quiz where I had to click yes on what was obviously NOT a crosswalk, but instead some words painted on the road but cut off in an awkward fashion. I could easily tell they were parts of letters; the machine grading my work just saw some stripes that were sorta-kinda parallel on a road surface-ish background.

"wind chill values as low as 120 below" (that's minus 80 degrees Celcius)
Admin
There are several comments above that are currently held for moderation so please forgive me if this is a duplicate, but it's worth pointing out that no matter what the windchill, snow will only form when the thermometer is below the freezing mark.

Barry M doesn't need to ask any questions - it clearly says that he doesn't have permission to access his bill! Just let them take as much of your money as they like Barry - what could possibly go wrong?!

I was curious, and found some wind chill calculators on-line... The two I tried both use the US National Weather Service's equations for wind chill (it's a bit of a black art, and the formulas involve raising the wind speed to powers like 0.16), and even trying completely absurd wind speeds, I could only get the wind chill for 44°F down to 23°F. (Er, at 25000 mph wind speeds!)

To be fair, most of the CAPTCHA and moderation nonsense goes away when you register, which I highly recommend to everybody - as a benefit, to ensure your nickname belongs to you. Registration/login workflow is glitchy and weird, but you can beat it into submission.

The article "Internal Networking" that accidentally got "remy-porter" as its url is still my favorite meta WTF
Admin
To that list, I would add: Post editing isn't.
Addendum 2023-10-13 13:38: Never mind, I assume that the "Silly editing" list item cover it. And this Addendum is a case in point :-P

So, in order to be considered "not a robot", you must actually prove that you can see and react like a silly machine.
The kind of humor I like ^_^
P.S. Let's check whether I can pass the "not a robot test" and post this reply...

@Mr. TA Ref
Hmmm. I had seen the folks with (nodebb) behind their name but I had never tumbled to the fact TDWTF had a local registration / UserID feature. I read here for a long time before bothering to write.
Thanks for the tip.

And I'm officially a known entity now. I feel so speshul.
Admin
Also, reactions would be nice, like thumbs up/down, laughter, anger, etc
Admin
Personally I find it annoying that "accidentally" positioning your mouse cursor on cursed areas of the web page, at the top, without doing any real interaction, covers the text you're reading with menus you never requested. In my very unimportant opinion, it would be nicer to use a normal "click" instead of just a "point" to activate those menus - this is why it's called "point AND click", not "point, retreat, scream".
Admin
I will definitely take a voucher for resolution. I need some resolution in my life.
Admin
The neat thing with "120 below" temperatures is that at that point it becomes irrelevant whether it's in F or C... from a human point of view, both are absolutely to be avoided.
Admin
But, this CAPTCHA is not TDWTF-specific. It's just Google.
Admin
Keyword: Mostly, As WTFGuy promptly demonstrated, you can still get moderated...
Admin
I also got moderated a few times, but it was when I posted code with angle brackets and what not. (Because obviously handling and safely storing and displaying output with angle brackets is difficult. Not!) I'm really curious what he wrote that got him moderated. Hahahaha
