    BUY OIL TODAY FOR GET LIFE

    remove the space: Buy oil today, forget life.

    With an EV, even 0 litres of engine oil is oil for life.

  • (nodebb)

    Who buys an EV because they're tired of doing oil changes?

    @jkshapiro

    Which makes that an especially easy offer for GM to make. Suckers will bite, and we won't spend any money paying out on the offer. Win!

    I've had that password pasting thing a lot. I use generated passwords, and when I paste the password in, I'll occasionally have to "jiggle the mouse" by adding and deleting a single character for it to recognize a keyboard event.

    on that same indian visa web site, I couldn't paste my credit card number. I couldn't even do the usual trick of pasting all but the last digit and then typing the last one in

    I've seen plenty of forms broken by pasting. Either because they're looking specifically for a key, or because they're formatting as they go. (Paste in ################ and it's not a valid credit card because they're validating their prettified ####-####-####-####. Less commonly I see the same thing with phone numbers.) You would think password managers were some newfangled fad that would never be actually used!

    I read that "Your transaction is being processed" as "Your transaction is still in the state of being processed and not yet settled", i.e. a timeout happened somewhere in the processing of the transaction. In that case, it makes sense to wait for a while before attempting again (maybe the transaction will indeed go through and you will receive an email confirmation). But maybe it's just me, having to deal with too many quirky payment APIs...

    Ah yes, we used to buy certificates there, too. "You can use Ctrl-V to paste, but not (right mouse)+Paste" is the kind of thing you don't want to say when you're intermediary support.

    Try: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/don-t-fuck-with-paste/ This overrides any Javascript that limits copy/paste and returns UX to its normal state. Good defense against those wannabe-programmers-of-HTML-forms.
