Why didn't you ask when the cities location button is going to be fixed? Enter a city name and it'll just guess where you mean, because obviously city is a unique identifier

"We had an open plan office at the time, so I ducked behind a desk when he was walked across the office and out of the building."

Always nice to hear how the professionals do it.

Main issue I've had with Hired is that, unless you live in "some of the hottest markets", it's of no use.

Yep, if you're looking for a C++ job, might as well go the old-fashioned headhunter route. I signed up for Hired nearly a year ago (after reading about it on this site even), haven't gotten so much as an email from them since.

After looking at the page source, I'm skeptical that this was written by Remy.

    @Mike K. @Brian

My experience has been similar to yours. I work with the Microsoft stack (almost exclusively desktop, but I'm interested in the web stack too) and have had nothing from them.

So, Remy, Alex, et al., is Hired just for Millennials who do LAMP and trendy mobile/web stuff? Sure seems like it.

I love the concept of Hired, but my experience has been pretty bad.

I have ~15 years experience, I'm in a hot market, I work with lot of trendy tech, I've worked for the "majors", and I get tons of recruiter spam (including from Hired). Twice now I've spent a significant amount of time building out a very nice profile in their system, only to be summarily reject with "we don't have enough opportunities for you right now." Seems like there's a VERY narrow set of criteria they're looking for, and I have no idea why I didn't match. It's ok, I've since found another job elsewhere, but I honestly can't recommend using Hired again without more insight into their pre-selection criteria. It's just not worth the effort.

I suspect that Michael Mitchell put a gun to the unicorn's head.

The pre-selection criteria of Hired-Dot-Com is ... well, let's just guess, shall we?

It's a recruitment company, gussied up. The pre-selection criteria is obviously not "Let's keep the Venture Capitalists happy by shipping cheap flesh in drone markets at a huge mark-up!"

Obviously. Because any other sort of business strategy, in a mature market like Recruitment "Consultancy," would make no sense whatsoever, would it?

    Unicorns! Oops, I panicked.

From my experience, Hired is pretty meh for senior candidates, and not really suitable for doing much on your own schedule. I'm looking for a job right now, and I do have a CV up there, but Hired is unlikely to be a substantial part of my search.

  • . Shannara (google)

Hired's signup process is broken :/ It requires me to fabricate a first or last name. (I have a single name). The first and last name requirement in the US was removed in the early 1960s...

    Oops! ;)

  • Zenith (unregistered) in reply to Mike K.

That's exactly it. When I signed up, I don't think it even let you save a profile if there were no opportunities nearby. At least they were quick about deleting my account when I contacted support.
