Maybe that's 187 minutes, 1 second. Also, frist.

Leaving aside the unfortunate typo, why is the bug itself even an issue?

Oh, wait, this is Java, so it resolutely defies interface conventions of every single gdmf platform you install it on. That's why.

Nothing wrong with a guy wearing that shoe. Nothing at all.

... except that while they may look arresting, they do my feet absolutely no good at all.

Judging by "Tomato...tomahto...potato...potahto," it seems Paul K. doesn't know how to pronounce "tomato" properly.

Indeed. I say let's call the whole thing off.

I'm guessing 1 in 10 wearers of that shoe do, indeed, get arrested.

Interesting...these shoes apparently make one less likely to be arrested. According to US DoJ statistics from 2012, by age 23, "nearly one in three Americans will have been arrested". Depending on race, the numbers for women range from 1 in 5 to 1 in 6.

Addendum 2018-06-01 13:31: Sorry...missed the fact that this was a Men's shoe. The arrest rates for males range from 40% to 50% depending on race. So, still well over 1 in 10.

That kind of shoe does not qualify as a safety shoe, which that text is clearly aimed at. With that level of lift, I would probably call it an unsafety shoe.

The precinct one is a WTF, but there's a likely explanation.

When I worked at a newspaper, and was responsible for processing election results from the state, I learned that some counties, when processing absentee ballots, would collect them into batches and process them as new precincts. This meant that the number of precincts which were reporting could differ from the number of physical precincts.

I learned this election night; I had processed what I assumed to be static information (candidate names, precinct counts for each race) into the database prior to election night, and assumed that I need only update the numbers for votes and precincts reporting as the night progressed. Fortunately I had put in some validation checks for the "static" data I was receiving as well. When the number of precincts in a race changed, I assumed my code was bad, but after looking at the raw data I contacted the state and learned about changing precinct numbers. Given that this was before the newspaper had a web site, I had enough time before the paper would be printed to fix my code to update the precinct numbers as well.

Perhaps the TV station never learned about that.

    "tag your it"? Painful.

"Oh, wait, this is Java, so it resolutely defies interface conventions of every single gdmf platform you install it on. That's why" JetBrains doesn't support HiDPI well?

Excuse me, Notepad and Notepad++ goes blurry when you drag between monitors, until you logout and back in. Sublime doesn't resize when you drag between monitors, until you open a new window (until a few weeks ago, you had to logout). JetBrains ships a custom JRE which supports instant DPI changing.

JetBrains is programmed in Java, but has better HiDPI support than "good old C++ programs". And the ones based on Win32 have even worse support (Sublime has a mostly platform-independent GUI with resizing support, but the Win32-styled menubar doesn't resize when you switch monitors OR reopen windows, until you logout.)

Are you kidding? Of course it's a safety shoe. You're just concentrating on the danger of falling from those heels, but as it was shown above they decrease your likelihood of going to jail!!
