Am I the only one who stared at the second one for 20 minutes before finally spotting the word 'Template'?

    I wouldn't call a negative number complex.

    Nope

not first error'd wtf from Australia, read "Never ASSume that You're Free from Errors" on 2017-11-17: https://thedailywtf.com/articles/never-assume-that-you-re-free-from-errors

-1 is not a complex number; it's not even an imaginary number. I believe it's technically called an integer

  • (nodebb) in reply to Tim

-1 bloody well is a complex number. It is at (-1, 0) on the complex plane, also expressed as -1 + 0i.

The key point is that it is also a pure real number.

True, but when expressed as the radius from a center point, it enters the twilight zone.

With all due respect, I submit Remy's Zeroth Law of Internet Freelancing, for your "consideration" :

It's bad, but bad like this: http://bit.ly/2CSO5eY

Look for the acronym please, not shown. Attempted submission on youtube forthcoming, along with all a lot of other things. May require "poking"

You are not alone. I gave up and then went back later to keep looking.

Ah I see spaceman started using a new alias. Now it's infinite_remy

Seeing him spamming several times here, I can't help but wonder if he ever did the math of the time he wastes here versus the amount of schmucks he eventually manages to fool into following his links. In a tech forum where most regulars are supposedly security conscious I don't really believe the math favors him much.

A displacement of -1 mile just means it's a mile underground, right?

9 out of 10 internet searches are for porn.

Marketing 101: Know your customer, and pander to them! Marketing 102: Get them talking, and keep them talking!

Would you be interested in doing pornography yourself? I have a business plan with some heavy hitters and corporate funding.

Bonus trick, the more clothes you put on, the more traffic you get!

  • infinite_remy (unregistered) in reply to Smash

Just to clarify, and there's some philosophical logic behind this, the internet is like a singularity of inequality.

A few hundred soccer moms flipping through their cellphone is just a blip on the radar.

What really drive the internet is probably less than a thousand people who know what they are doing, really really going after something.

hmmmm, I wonder what that something is? The left booby, or the right booby? Let's focus all our attention there. Medical research. Bah! If can't eat it or hump it, wipe my butt with it and I'll throw it back in the woods!

Now, c'mon! Let's play with legos at the top of Google Jonestown.

Like a real big best buy that's free?

It means some drunken pilot would stick the landing 9,999 out of 10,000 times, but on that one time, everyone flies into the sun and lives!

No, that'd still be a mile away. The negative distance actually means that we're talking about a displacement along a time-like dimension, rather than a space-like dimension. (Special Relativity, bitches!) If I remember the formulæ right, we're talking about a displacement in time of about 1.5 nanoseconds.

What this means in reality makes my head hurt.

  • (nodebb)

Doesn't quite work out because spacetime interval is in units of distance squared. -1 mile² spacetime interval gives us a temporal displacement of 5.3 μs assuming no spatial displacement. (If it's 1 mile away spatially, the temporal separation is 7.6 μs.) Not sure where you got 1.5 ns from, that's an interval of -0.2 m².

Dealing with a hotel that's microseconds in your past (or future) probably wouldn't be that much of a headache. Once it got to substantial fractions of a second, though, you might have trouble using your credit card.

In reality though, the hotel has a continuous presence, so you wouldn't actually try to deal with the systems from 5 microseconds (or however long) ago, you'd use the ones that are there now. If the booking site is linked to a version of the hotel at a different timeframe, that's their problem, not yours.

Sad thing about the BOM and the ABC… they're both funded by the Australian taxpayer.

  • (nodebb)

Always being a few microseconds in the future is probably the reason it's called Hotel Pending.
