    First!

  • yk (unregistered)

What is the problem with the third?

  • Jaap (unregistered) in reply to yk

Nothing, unless you use a computer that was made in this century.

  • QuestionAnswerer (unregistered)

This is wrong with the third one:

    • it says "computer's make and model" and I would expect somethink like computer's make = manufacturer = Lenovo, Dell, Acer etc. and model like ThinkPad, Aspire etc.
    • ok, it lists chipsets like Intel 386, Intel 486, Pentium etc. But what if I have an AMD 486 or Cyrix 386 or AMD Athlon? Why is the manufacturer of the chip important and just saying "486" is not enough?
    • it also lists operating systems and applications. like "UNIX/SAMBA". What if I have Linux without samba? What if I have Linux with Samba running on a Pentium? You cannot select option "Intel pentium" and "UNIX/SAMBA" both!
  • Ron Fox (google)

The problem with the third one is that it doesn't have my MicroVAX (running VMS) listed. Never mind the other question: Why do they care?

Did you notice that it says "lick the Microsoft Office Button" ? I just imagine someone wiping his screen surface with his tongue ...

  • (nodebb) in reply to QuestionAnswerer

Also: do many people visit the site from their Network Appliances Filers?

  • Apparently not cynical enough (unregistered)

For #3, I bet their bug tracker analyst is curious why everyone submits "Other" for that question.

When you the website you used to work on on Error'd...

Not that I did that page, mind.

Addendum 2016-07-01 10:29: *when you see

  • (nodebb)

You can click here to access the page once the block has expired.

Why would you see the block page once the page you want is no longer blocked? Or do you click now so that it’ll automatically display the page to you when the block expires?

  • Matt Westwood (unregistered) in reply to microsoft candy

    That was the joke.

  • Matt Westwood (unregistered)

Can't see what the problem is with the site blocker. On the computer it is being viewed on, the block is permanent, surely? Is that not what you would expect on a work computer?

  • Matt Westwood (unregistered) in reply to Ron Fox

Possibly, when the app first went live, they were having difficulty making it work on all platforms. Certain platforms may have exhibited different problems. So to shortcut the troubleshooting time, they asked up front what machine you're running on so as to give them a clue. The only WTF is that nobody has bothered to update the menu. Maybe it's because it's rarely used, which would be a tribute to good software design and maintenance.

OS and Browser options are also a little outdated on that page.

  • Loren Pechtel (google)

Once time ends how will time pass so the block can expire?

  • Joe (unregistered) in reply to Matt Westwood

But really old is bad thing with the internet when you are stuck having to use IE. But Apple mk68K (680X0) systems still in the list with P4's in there?

  • Inca (unregistered)

Oh, that report form is so cute! It lists 28k8 and Netscape Navigator 3.x as default.

  • lights0213 (unregistered)

Also, why does it ask what browser you're using? User agents? Anyone?

  • DaveL (unregistered)

#3 -- bonus item for for us in the UK: "license" vs "licence". hilarious!

I tried to follow the instructions and licked the Microsoft Office button. Next thing I knew I was using up a sick day on the next work day with a bad case of diarrhea. By the way, the button tasted like crap.

tunnel1 and tunnel2 show up on my website to:

    https://www.transsee.ca/stoplist?a=mta&r=X68

This and other routes with branches have the stops on each branch interleaved making the stop list confusing.

User agents can be spoofed, either on purpose or by a malicious extension.
