To be fair, Windows was going to talk about how Word was trying to recover your information, but it wasn't confident enough to actually show it.

Wait, this is from December? How long has this been in the queue?
Admin
RE: the VS one.
EventArgs
has a property calledEmpty
of typeEventArgs
; is it any surprise that results in an effective infinite recursion?Admin
I'm missing something. What am I missing on this one?
Admin
Admin
And this stuff is not expanded automatically. The real WTF here is between the keyboard and chair, for actually making the effort of clicking all these "+" buttons until it looked ridiculous.
Admin
Yup. I totally missed it. Wood for trees etc.
Admin
I like how the EventArgs thing bounces off the screen.
Admin
Visual Studio IDE is the new Solitaire?
Admin
Pointing on the squares with the "+" inside suffices.
Admin
Still a lot of work to point the mouse at them in sequence.
Admin
Especially as it's quite easy to move away from the right bit, and the whole thing collapses
Admin
BUT IT IS ONE PAINSTAKING MOUSE CLICK LESS EACH TIME!!!!111ONE-ELEVENTY-ONE
<!-- No, Discourse, the screaming is intentional. -->Admin
TRWTF is VB, amirite?
Admin
TRWTF is continuing this discussion on Discourse
Admin
Maybe it shows what the song would have cost otherwise, but is now for free. Not that it is any less of a WTF, but for a different reason: bad UI design. Such offers are usually shown by striking off the cost and writing "Free" next to it.
Admin
I don't get the Toronto one. Having a high of 26 C in December is a really bad forecast, but it's not necessarily a WTF. The record high for December I think is near 20 C, so this could just be a typo for 16 C (or some excessively confident forecaster expecting the record to be shattered) . Also, a hot day, followed by snow (or more likely hail) in the late afternoon or evening, is a thing that can and does happen on rare occasions in some places.
Unless I'm still missing a more obvious problem?
Admin
The queue counts up. Once you are '42' in the queue, a Microsoft representative will receive your question. Then you have to wait for the answer.
(so there are 28 people ahead of you in the queue to have their questions received, and an unspecified number of people ahead of them waiting for answers.)
Admin
A chance of snow when the high is 79F/26C?
We know where Hell is located now.
Admin
It's not out of the question for it to snow on a day when the high is 79F. Seriously, it doesn't say what the low was for that day. I don't see the WTF either.
Admin
TRWTF is someone who decided to publish that submission without thinking.
Admin
Admin
I read it as someone meaning to put 26F in there instead of 26C.
Admin
26C is 79F.
Admin
Yes, exactly. They entered 26C instead of 26F.
Admin
In the Denver area, this sort of thing happens a lot because of the barrier provided by the mountains immediately upwind of us. In the winter, we sometimes get a day with a high in the 70s, followed by a day of snow (both in the same day is not common, but it's possible if a storm rolls in at night). Or you can have it hail in the afternoon after a hot day in August (though that's not really "snow"). It's not something impossible like a warm snowstorm, it's just that storms can show up in just a few hours in the afternoon/evening, after the high for the day.
So a chance of snow on a hot day really isn't a WTF in itself, though it was probably supposed to be the WTF here. The only reason that this forecast is implausible is that in Toronto specifically, it just never, ever gets into the 20 C range in December. Which makes the "joke" kind of obscure for anyone who doesn't actually live in Toronto and know what typical winter temperatures are...
Admin
It clearly is showing both Fahrenheit and Celsius for High as labeled. If it said low 26C and high 79F, then I'd see your point.
Admin
Yes, and I'm saying that they entered Fahrenheit data where the software expected Celsius. It's not that complicated a point. I guess you're assuming that they'd have to enter numbers for both units, but it seems simpler and less error prone to enter only one and let the computer do the conversion.
Admin
On December 9th 2014, the max temperature in Toronto was 5.3 °C, according to The Weather Network...
Admin
Which fits the forecast for the 10th, but not for the 9th by any mangling of C/F conversion.
Admin
Basically, the tooltips show you what they can about a type, and you can expand them to give more information. Even when there isn't any, you can get at the type name. And then you can keep doing that forever, if you keep expanding them. I just don't know why you would.
Admin
Probably since December.
Admin
Thanks for telling. It wasn't yesterday when I started using the Visual Studio IDE, though.
(I referred to the animation the Solitaire game (the one accompanying Windows up to Vista or 7 or so) showed after one had won a game.)
Probably it's less boring than just staring at one's monitor after having read all new posts on what.thedailywtf.com.
Admin
Well, where was I gonna send him, Detroit?
Admin
Good remark, but then again it doesn't say what year it's from...

Admin
I dunno, but I actually don't see a whole lot of craziness here. Sure, that's a pretty steep drop in temperature for three days, but I live in Texas; that kind of thing happens all the time here. Am I missing the error here or something? O_o

Excuse you, that's FAUX "News"™. The distinction is highly important, as the various Foxes of the world (and likely the foxes, as well) have no wish to be slandered by relation with that network.

QFT (Hey look, the quote actually worked. Or at least it did in preview. That's unexpected...)
Admin
Quote whole post works as expected (usually). It's selective quote that's Belgiumed to Belgium and back.
Admin
Hmm, right. Woops
Admin
why the belgium are you belgiuming? isn't regular swearing enough?
Admin
For Discourse? No swear words, not even Belgium, are strong enough for Discourse.
Admin
you seem to have trouble with that word.
What has belgium done to you?
Admin
Other than being the rudest word in the universe, nothing in particular. Actually, they put mayo on their frieten, which is also pretty rude.
Admin
That reminds me, I need to try that combo one day
Admin
Why? I mean, some people eat shit, too, but that doesn't mean it's smart.
