There are also toilets on the original Enterprise, as reflection would suggest their must be, but only in the "Star Trek Concordance" does it tell you where to find them.

When you're about to board the turbolift from the bridge, and there's that panel to your left with the diagram of the ship on it, there's a head behind that panel. In case you need to go where no man has gone before.

I'm also almost positive the Autons in TOS were able to use pretty much anything plastic: yep, Wikipedia agrees: "In [a Pertwee episode], the Nestenes also made use of more mundane objects, animating plastic toys, inflatable chairs and artificial flowers in addition to their Auton servants."

Same in the new series - the same initial episode has a large, plastic, rolling garbage can converted.

    Ah, I forgot about that...

    It's the facility for women?

I was too lazy to look up the official name of the monster.
    Autons

Unless you mean the controlling being, in which case the answer you are looking for is the Nestene Consciousness.

Given the presence of the spinning Christmas tree in that episode, it's not safe to assume you're safe. I CBA to rewatch it now but I thought other things were becoming alive too.

No, that was David Tennant's first full episode.

    Edit: Christmas Invasion, IIRC.

Ah, yes; it was being controlled by the Sycorax, IIRC

No, the robot Santas that were there before the Sycorax showed up.

  • (disco) in reply to abarker

Wasn't it the Sycorax that sent the robot Santas?

Not clear. They didn't show up again (in that episode) after the attack with the tree. The Doctor likened them to pilot fish, giving me the impression that while they may be beneficial to the Sycorax, they weren't directly associated with the Sycorax.

    Ah.

*makes a note to watch through her Doctor Who DVDs again soon*

The Daleks just aren't scary; the Weeping Angels are much more effective at inducing fear.
I watch the show with my kids; mainly the new version, but I'm also slowly expanding my collections of the old version, and I show them those too. My youngest (8) finds the modern Cybermen much *less* scary than the original "clearly just a normal person in shiny pants" version. I thought that was an interesting and unexpected reaction.

Fact: I mistook a weeping angel cosplayer for an actual piece of street artwork at Gencon once. She was posing on the sidewalk for pictures and it was taking up the entire gorram sidewalk so I slithered through a gap between her ass and some street furniture in a rather unfortunately way and kept going because artwork and I was in a hurry.

This later happened a SECOND time, at a different intersection. After which point one of the guys I was with pointed it out to me.

That said. DON'T BLOCK THE FUCKING SIDEWALKS.

It's hard to take that flat affectless robot voice, plus all the silly clanging noises they make, seriously. The new ones are clowns.

Thanks for confirming my mind isn’t slipping :) Weirdly, if you read the wikia article for the one show that dolphins apparently appeared on (which I seem to have missed, or perhaps blocked out, neither of which is unusual when it comes to ST) the only place where that mentions dolphins is in the tags at the bottom.
