You realize that's the kind of job that computers were invented to replace.

no, i said "when" and i meant "when"

    :stuck_out_tongue: it's a handy skill to have.

of course you do have to manage to put two bits on each finger which does get tricky.....

Let me know whenif you ever want to, and I'll change it back.

  • (disco) in reply to Dragnslcr

I could count that high without using my fingers at all.

Filed Under: and it's easy to count to 255 on your fingers in hex

You can count to 1023 on your fingers, using binary.

You have ten fingers plus two thumbs?

Personally I'm content counting to 255 on my fingers and leaving my thumbs for sign and carry flags.

Counting from 0 to 1023 is unsigned, so I don't know what you need a "sign thumb" for. And since I said counting, and not adding/subtracting, I don't know what you need a "carry thumb" for either.

  • (disco) in reply to BrianB_NY

Well, the sign bit is so I can go to +/-255 and the carry is for when I do maths! I merely said I was content with it ;)

Not sure if :whoosh: on the :pendant: deal going on there though...

this reminds me of a story i read somewhere: a company was having a similar problem, they needed better cooling in the server room, but the manager was a cheapskate... THEN a janitor walked around the corner, flipped a circuit breaker, AND THE AC THAT HAD BEEN IN THE SERVER ROOM ALL ALONG STARTED WORKING AGAIN!
