Finally for once I am frist
Admin
the two exclusive titles having slightly different spacing due to one having 'lines' while the other says 'sentences' is just the cherry on top. Someone put effort into making sure the example didn't break their own rule, and then hit 'send out mail' .

Visiting Null is a great adventure where nothing happens all the time. There are no problems, no people, no things to get in the way of enjoying nothing. It costs you nothing to visit or stay, and it's very safe as nothing can happen. Come to Null and leave with memories of nothing!
Admin
I guess the beer is off then?
Admin
Pretty sure the raised numbers there are cents, not an exponent. Still, a 6-pack for $0.ff is a pretty good deal.
Admin
Propane? Taste the meat, not the weeds!
Admin
I wonder if that Weed-B-Gon would work with MAPP gas for faster results?
Admin
Weed-B-Gon Totally-Not-A-Flamethrower efficiently removes all weeds, pests, crops, small animals, large animals and sworn enemies.
Admin
#3 I guess you could say they're mutually exclusive.

TRWTF of the beer is that the display is On to tell you that it's Off. Or to quote The Simpsons:
Mapple employee: “Sir, it’s not even turned on yet.” Homer: “But it’s glowing.” Mapple employee: “That light confirms that it’s off.”
Admin
Our TV has that. Little red light when it's "off" (aka standby). No light when it's on
Admin
There's surely a decent-sized target market of people who care about both lawn care and clean-burning fuel, ah tell you whut.
Admin
I wonder if the beer is being sold on the island of San Serriffe. That's the only bank I know of that uses hexadecimal dollars. Considering 0x$0.ff is almost the entire value of a Knuth reward check, I'd say it was pretty steep.
Admin
Especially if cents are stored in an 8 bit signed integer.
Admin
Hmm, "Off" makes me think 3 things could be off: 1) The price tag is off; it has not been assigned to the item. 2) American beer tends to be cooled; maybe the fridge is off. 3) The beer itself is expired and has gone off. Oh well. We may never know.
Admin
It's actually a New Zealand beer, supposedly in an American style, made with American hops. I suspect if was a thermometer rather than a price display.
Admin
I'm in the middle of my first coffee, I can't even figure out if it would make more sense of it's an e-ink display. (I have no idea if those are entirely passively powered when reprogramming the display. If not, it could be useful to go into a very visible "I'm switching off and losing my configuration" state.
Admin
That beer POS thing, that's a battery powered LCD screen which should be showing the price. They probably just do this to show that it has no price/product assigned currently as it's a) shorter to write "off" than "unassigned" on a tiny display like this, and b) if it were to show something like 0.00, idiot customers would try claiming the product was free because they don't understand how contract law works and is applied in the context of a supermarket or other shop.
Admin
Actually, my TV is emitting a lot more light when it's on. I guess mine is actually still functioning.
Addendum 2020-09-13 17:30: Even with the shiny stand-by red led then being off.

0.ff (base 16) is only 1/256th (base 10) of a dollar off from $1 as opposed to 0.99 (base 10), that is a whopping 1/100th (base 10) of a dollar. 0^ff (or 0^x, in any base) is always exactly one dollar. You would only be able to notice the difference after having about 100 beers, or would you?
Admin
Try again. 0^x is 0 for any positive x and undefined for any negative x. 0^0 is defined as 1 in some contexts and undefined in other contexts.
1^x is, however, always equal to 1 for any x.
Admin
Hmm, sorry, that was too long ago, apparently );
I somehow got this mixed up with x^0. That ís always 1 for any positive number.
So silly.
Please don't tell my math teacher about this!
Admin
Also, 0! (faculty) is, literally by definition, equal to 1

I know someone who's last name is "Null". This has been such a traumatic experience for the now 65 y/o man, that his Change of Name request was denied, as Null was not a valid value. I also know someone with an apostrophe in their name, and he only includes it on things that he WANTS to fail, like utility bills, tax forms, but conveniently eliminates for things he wants, like eBay purchases and the like
