The Weather Channel one is almost certainly time zones. A "date only" value is converted to a "date+time+zone" value, then the time+zone is discarded on display.

On the age one, maybe what it meant was that they're both AT LEAST 73 years old. Super-helpful!

Might be because they're starting the week on a Sunday rather than a Monday, which is more of a locale thing.

You might be on something with the locale thing. The week starting on Sunday might be hard coded in the template, but the calendar itself displays with the week starting on Monday.
