    Windows got really bloated lately

  • Foo AKA Fooo (unregistered)

You know I recently saw a WTF: A web site showing some kind of out of memory error message on a screen (something about laundry), but scaled down the image so much one couldn't even read the message. Should be featured here!

  • Foo AKA Fooo (unregistered)

If it's the first day of the week (whichever way you count), next week goes up to 13 days in the future, so technically Siri is, well, not completely wrong, or should I say up to 3/7 right.

  • (nodebb)

Bah, ninja'ed by Foo, or maybe by Fooo.

  • Guest (unregistered)

    Fitbit shows you a podium

  • Brian Boorman (google)

I don't see how that last one is wrong. It says it can "free up to 3.99 TB" which doesn't mean it will free 3.99 TB. It's like those ads that say "save up to 50% off on everything in the store!" That doesn't mean everything is marked down 50%.

  • Joe (unregistered) in reply to Brian Boorman

3.99 TB that must be why windows vista SP2 clean install gets stuck on windows update.

How big is an full WSUS sync?

  • Bert (unregistered) in reply to Brian Boorman

I think at least one item has to be 50% off for that to not be false advertising. So in that vein, maybe they've got disk compression on and it's four terabytes from /dev/zero.

  • Carl Witthoft (google) in reply to Guest

Ninja'd me there. That was my immediate thought, too.

  • (nodebb) in reply to Guest

Yeah, that was my thought, except that the positions on a podium are usually side-by-side, not one-above-the-other.

  • Carl Witthoft (google) in reply to Steve_The_Cynic

    You're looking at it sideways.

  • (nodebb)

While my co-worker JR may have gotten the most steps, I still came out on top!

Who's JR? That dialog looks completely correct. It just has the people listed in an odd order...

  • Sandman (unregistered) in reply to dcon

The screenshot is from JR's screen.

  • Loren Pechtel (google)

I think Siri is operating correctly. If it's early in the week "next week" will extend to more than 10 days out. I think simply giving the 10 day forecast is better than pretending to provide an "answer" that must be incomplete. If you can't do it, say so!

  • Steve (unregistered)

Of course "the next week" could be taken by most normal people to be a regularly understood shorthand for the next 7 consecutive days

  • anon (unregistered)

IDK, i think the site is kinda cool.

  • german nihilist (unregistered)

uhm kind of repetitive. try to express yourselves on a grain of rice

  • RAKEYBLAT (unregistered)

Well, I for one think this website is delightful. But I hear and respect your opinion.

I also like open-source software and Apple products.

  • My Name (unregistered)

Scrolled to the end on my phone expecting something huge. Took me +5 minutes. Disappointed! -.-

  • HearHear (unregistered)

"Used envelopes" are nothing. Try looking for dog poop bags... they've got those used too!

Maybe Blakeyrat would like them? He seems awfully attached so what he claims to dislike.

  • LAKEYBRAT (unregistered)

I hate open-source software and Apple products! Also jalapeños, lint, suspended bridges, HB pencils and myself. Oh and blue post-its and puppies, I hate them too.

But what I hate the most are those who want to ssteal my preciousss...

  • byteflush (unregistered)

I didn't understand, what were you trying to say? You are in love with this website - OK, I got that - but why do you want to have receptive homosexual intercourse with male admins and moderators?

  • Whosdr (unregistered)

Looks like comment quality is slightly higher today.

  • Nobody (unregistered)

I don't know who Alex is, but he must be awesome to provoke that reaction

  • Norman Diamond (unregistered)

You know I recently saw a WTF: A web site showing some kind of out of memory error message on a screen (something about laundry), but scaled down the image so much one couldn't even read the message.

I forgot where I saw it. I wonder why.

  • Norman Diamond (unregistered)

The screenshot is from JR's screen.

    Who screenshot JR?

Also how does JR step? By removing training wheels?

  • (nodebb) in reply to Steve

Maybe you would: if I wanted a weather forecast for the next seven days, and not for a particular week (like the next one), I'd ask for a weather forecast for the next seven days.

I'm listening to a weather forecast on television right now: the language being used is consistent in that a general period of seven days (e.g., the next seven days) is referred to as seven days, while a week is specifically a period from Sunday to Saturday.

Remind me again why we had registered membership?

  • Alex Papadumbass (unregistered) in reply to Nobody

You are right, I am awesome.

  • RAKEYBLAT (unregistered)

I love being myself. A hate filled biggot that wastes his time critizing things that could be very well left alone while not contributing anything to society... much like ballon sized crap filled leach that is about to explode. But hey, don't listen to me and my demands for suicide, I'm just some angsty teenager with way too much time in my hands and a desire for destruction. I hate my life and nobody should be able to enjoy their, you got that! Now I'll go flame some kids on some sad online multiplayer game in an attempt to gain some self steem. Cheers

  • (nodebb) in reply to Watson

There's a subtle point of usage here, at least in the way I'd use it: If I asked for the forecast for next week, that would be referring to the next calendar week (possibly only to the day that is one week from today, depending on context). If I asked for the forecast for the next week, that would refer to the next seven days.

No doubt this varies regionally. Everything else in English does, after all :)

  • BRAKEYLAT (unregistered) in reply to dcon

Something is definitely up with the progress bars, which don't seem to bear any relationship to the actual number of steps walked.

  • PTO (unregistered) in reply to Scarlet_Manuka

"This Week" is the week that the current day is part of, "Next Week" is the week after "This Week". So asking for next weeks weather on Monday October 3rd is the weather from October 9th to 15th, which is more than 10 days out.
