Sir, that's not a number. (gasp!)

    Oh. Then 50 million.

That answering machine runs off of an Excel spreadsheet?

  • (cs)

I wonder how many times someone has set up auto pay and it turned out to be some insane number like that. What would the bank do? What could the bank do?

Hope everyone has overdraft protection... a really good overdraft protection.

Cool! IKEA invented the Do-It-Yourself Billboard(TM)

Let's all invent IKEA-style names for it. What do you think about "Tömmatavla" (look it up in your handy Swedish dictionary ;-)

    Or how about "Nøstrøm" :-)

As we found out when we re-did our kitchen, "IKEA" is Swedish for "back-ordered".

Can you please post a description of the answering machine, in case I cannot see the video, or want to print it out, or something like that?

When the person holding the camera presses a button on it, the answering machine's synthesized voice says: "You have Sunday, 18:50 PM messages."

You gotta admit, the logo under that sign just makes the picture. :-)

I like how the sign is apparently made or leased by a company called "SmartSign." Yep, real smart!

Darn, you beat me to it. :-)

Trying to remember that 18 is AFTER 12, and hence PM, does sound quite confusing. I wonder what Britney Spears' answering machine says.

I once had the bank insisting we were $9,999,999,999.99 overdrawn after cancelling a check, they even had the balls to ask when we were considering paying it back.

It turned out that their 'cancel a check' process was; change the amount to '99,999,999,999.99' and mark it as having been paid, if you're going to do it that way though, please make sure your staff can type.

The reason the IKEA image isn't showing up is because they haven't found someone who can figure out how to put it together yet.

    Verizon does it again!

(I don't get reverse charge calls. Instead of saying your name to the robot, you could read out the phone number of the phone box, the robot would call the person you wanted to speak to, give them the number. They could hang up and call you back without paying the charge for the reverse call.)
Payphones haven't been able to receive calls in ages. Where have you been?
  • (cs)

Sounds like a certain phone company is aiming to take on the likes of Reynholm Industries... They only have to beat last years record of "1800 billion billion pounds".

As for the answering machine... That's Numberwang!

I think that would be more like 17:50. At 18:50 the little hand would be closer to the 7.

. . . someone used the word laser in their post and this just occurred to me why do people use laser instead of LASER, the capitalized version is correct because it is an acronym. </random></rant><geekyness continue="continue">

Yeah, Nick, you answered your own question - the lower case version is correct because it "laser" is an acronym and a common noun. An acronym is a word made from the initials of some phrase, and as if that word is a common noun, then it is not capitalised. Hence "laser", but "NATO".

Another reason to request a description (or, better, captions in the video): There are hearing impaired persons (at least me) among your readership, and they, too, would like to know WTF is going on.
