    Why do they write "Best/Better before" whatever date instead of "Do Not Eat After". Is the latter too much of a challenge, effectively wiping out the competitive folk amongst society.

    I mean "better before" implies that it's still ok to eat after the specified date, it'll just probably taste like ass. I want something more stern. Skull and cross bones at least!
