Only 10% extra for personal delivery to war zones?

You might want to reconsider that part...

Now, the real question is if my daughter's college fund can be somehow made $5k lighter without anyone noticing... hmm...

But seriously, I'm sure someone will shell the cash out and get Alex to deliver, right?

  • (cs)

I'm going to start saving that $5,555 and move to Darfur right now, just to teach you people a lesson.

Coming soon: a post from the intern starting with: I was hired as an Oracle expert...

It's times like this I wish I didn't blow my $5k on frivolous things like bills.

Nominated for the mug... Oh, wait...

Hey, nice, I hope somebody orders "Mug, Personally Delivered by Alex". I'm sure that delivery would be an entertaining story!

Dude that is too cool. I must have one!

If the intern is a female, can we have her personally deliver it for $5,000? I've never actually met a girl in person and I think $5,000 is a fair sum to arrange this.

  • (cs)

Hmm Google tells me 15oz is 440mL: That's a decent sized mug! Tempting with the current exchange rate makes it like $AU 24. Time to replace the old /dev/mug...

I always wonder why our cups are so tiny. Now THIS is what I call a mug!

I'm awaiting the THAT DOESN'T EVEN MAKE SENSE YOU RETARD t-shirts.

Oversees shipping is expensive indeed... But luckily the US dollar is worth next to nothing these days :D

    Addendum (2008-06-06 09:33): € 15.15... Well okay... ordered one

No no no no no no no.

    Not subtle enough.

TRWTF (tm) t-shirt would have the code from this printed on it.

In a nicely aliased OS-X font, obviously.

I'd like to order two Mugs - one for the office and one for my home. Does the overseas shipping fee decrease when ordering more than one mug?

  • (cs)

Does this mean my normal-sized DailyWTF coffee cup with the logo on one side and "Brillant!" on the other, from two or three years ago, is now a collector's item? Ebay - starting bid, $99

    You mean nicely anti-aliased right?

  • Mike in business development (unregistered)

Hey all- this is Mike in business development (the spaz in the photo) and there are a few things Alex didn't mention that I think are necessary:

    1. The mug has a weight to it. It's very sturdy. When you hold it, you don't feel like your holding a mug so much as perhaps a battle axe that is simply in mug form.

    2. The thing with its size is this: if you like your coffee with cream, or even a lot of cream, you can get 12 oz. pour and your cream all at once and be done with it As a coffee fanatic, I've found it annoying with smaller oz mugs that you pour 8 oz, add cream, spill some from over-flow, and then have to re-fill and repeat the process all at once...

So be sure to order yours today. If we sell out I'm going to put "The Daily WTF mug/web model" on my resume and it'd be nice to have stats to show for it so I can start getting some of that Madison Ave. money...

How about you hand deliver it for free, and I let you look through my code?

Am sure you can find enough WTFery to keep you in posts for years - sound like a fair trade?

  • iogy (unregistered)

The real WTF is that it has no instructions (how to place correctly in your computer's cupholder, how to pour out over your keyboard) are printed on the bottom.

    Canada's not overseas...

I can't justify $23 for a single mug, but I would consider a set of two if the shipping were collectively lower.

Failing that, I'll just have to ask an American friend for a favor (favour)...

If you need to pour your coffee on your keyboard and the instructions are printed on the bottom of the mug, by the time you have read them, you have probably achieved your goal.

TRWTF is that it doesn't take much intellect to understand that its not about the amount of coffee additives, but that its all about the proportion of coffee additives.

One or two bad mixes is all it should take to realize how to adjust the amount of creamer to fit the mug. It just means more trips to the break room :(

Meh... they're cool, but £12 for mug!!?!?!

That's four pints of beer -- even at london prices. Five or six in the sticks. Or a couple of paperback books. A decent meal in a gastropub. A brand new DVD. Etc, etc.

  • ieb (unregistered) in reply to Nerf Herder

If you think $5000 is reasonable, you must have the most expensive red light district ever.

I work at a company that would easily swamp your site with submissions if only our network worked reliably enough.

What would we need to pay extra to get mugs with "@ {company-name}" on them?

A decent meal in a gastropub?

What, one that dresses the chicken thighs in petticoats, just so that you don't get all hot and sweaty?

You're surely not talking about the quality of the food, are you? Then again, the evidence suggests that you're an ignorant pleb from London, so you probably are.

PS If you've ever considered the etymology behind the absurd neologism "gastropub," it might have occurred to you that the whole concept is both deeply flawed and possibly nauseating.

  • Mike in business development (unregistered)

    @th30519-

Well yes of course it's about the proportion not the amount but when it comes to my coffee, i'm quite specific about the amount of actual coffee I want. I don't say "I'd like whatever fits into a 12 oz mug and is tasty" so much as I want exactly 12 oz's of coffee as a serving and the necessary requirement of sugar and creamer to fit my specific mood. Sometimes I want it sweeter than on other occasions and sometimes I want it more or less milky. This can thus vary between a grand total of 13oz and 15oz (which leads to sipping with the mug still on the counter- you know that move) of liquid refreshment.

Coffee brewing is all about mood and if your process is the exact same everytime, you're really doing yourself and the coffee a dis-service.

My point was, with the 15 oz mug, you can get exactly (at least 12 oz) brewed and still have room to experiment.

    Ciao!

    Mike
