So what? Samsung also makes air conditioners.

  • (cs)

I think $69.6969696969696969 would be quite an interesting price....

  • Stewie (unregistered) in reply to aircon

    Indeed... http://www.complaints.com/september2003/complaintoftheday.september24.10.htm

Samsung makes Air Conditioners with remote controls (presumably room air conditioners and not central air).

Yeah, I'm going to call foal on this one. TRWTF that some people think that remote-controller air conditioners are an innovation.
  • Signo (unregistered)

The remote control one isn't really a WTF. Samsung makes air conditioners that have remote controls. At least they do in Japan.

  • Anon (unregistered)

Let me be the first to say that TRWTF is Lotus Notes. In terms of WTF'ness, Lotus Notes is at least 100x more WTF'y than VB and PHP combined.

Which is probably why that web form wanted nothing to do with IBM. Can't say I blame them.

So really, we need Sean Cheshire to explain Lotus Notes before he goes calling WTF on anything else.

  • Anon (unregistered)

Hmmm....I wonder where I could get a remote controlled AC? Maybe Samsung makes one? If only dozens of people would comment to confirm that. I'm not quite sure yet.

Now that is indeed some free thinking insurance. Instead of sending you a traditional pre-typed policy letter, they allow you to create your own (in the "type here" field).

If the admins did that, it would be a clear violation of whatever ethereal policies they have put in place. In case you haven't noticed, Bert Glandstorm and Darth comments are deleted, along with references to wooden tables, Irish Girl, etc. Therefore, references to Soylent Green would be equally meme-ish.

That's right, ladies and gentlemen: we are not allowed to refer to anything else when we write our comments. Doing so bring the damnum of the admins for some tristiquerious reason.

TRWTF is the linked article, which tries to explain how to build an electronic circuit without showing a circuit or wiring diagram.

As to Bikesure - it's Freethinking Insurance, so what did you expect? You're not paying for them to think, so you'll have to fill in your own TYPE HERE.

The real WTF is that we're STILL seeing people write software where the type of money is real or float. Sad thing is that this aparently was an improvement on the original, mainframe way of doing things with COBOL ...

    Less WTF but more FFS!

The one about the remote reminds me of many of cases from my summer days.

While I was in University, I worked for a pretty major appliance manufacturer during my summers. I was pretty close with the people who worked in the technical support area.

I can recall a person calling in to get tech support for the remote control to their air conditioner. For about 5-10 minutes they went through steps to verify that it was working, had batteries, the display came up on the remote etc. When the tech support person finally asked "Can you try the same function using the panel on the A/C just to see if that function works at all?" the (very nice) woman on the other end of the line said "Ok, but I'll have to call you back. It's at my mothers house across town."

You can't make this stuff up, she was trying to control it from about 20 miles away.

I would think troubleshooting of a remote would involve making sure the remote is in range and there are no obstructions.
