Sweet Home ??????????????????????????????????
Admin
You know what order to restart. THE Order. That's right. You thought no one knew about it, and you thought you had retired from that life for good. You were wrong.
Admin
I found this comment at my local Best Buy, apparently I'm going to comment twice as much for the pre-owned version.

Admin
Maybe it costs twice as much because there are two of them?
Admin
Need better comment.
Admin
ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQ|STUVWXYZ...
I dunno, maybe one too many punches to the head?
Admin
I've been to Walthamstow. The ??????????????????????? is entirely warranted.
Admin
I'm seeing double here! Four rubik's cubes!
Admin
The Rubik's Touch cube was originally something like $150 and recently bombed in value because it is an unsellable piece of useless, pointless junk. It's possible that they updated the prices in the wrong order.
Admin
Clearly the Pervasive PSQL thing is so pervasive that you already have it on your computer, and there's no reason to run the installer.
Admin
Instance37003 is obviously the Borg designation for 'apple'. Clearly this kid is preparing for the inevitable. I'm kinda partial to Instance37048 myself.
Admin
Obviously instance37003 is a variety of apples that grow directly out of the ground.
Admin
It's April 30, 2010 - just in case you couldn't determine that.
Admin
You cannot install PSQL because it's protected by copyright law and international treaties. Didn't you read the warning? And if you find another way to install it, the FBI will find you. No matter where you are.
Admin
Red Screen of Death?
Admin
the psql installer one is not a WTF, just a well timed screen shot, and one you could get from just about any decent sized MSI installer. The GUI for the MSI loads while the CAB file is still being unpacked to a temp directory, you can't click next until the unpacking finishes.
Admin
I think it must be a new form of Captcha... for an application you are running locally?
Admin
Hmmm, the sum of all numbers in the last picture is 83. Maybe that was meant there.
Admin
"I found this at my local Best Buy," Austin K writes, "apparently they charge twice as much for the pre-owned version. Perhaps the extra $50 is because it's already been solved for you? Those Geek Squad are good at making everything go faster."
A joke so nice, he told it twice.
Admin
FBI error?
CLEARLY that stands for... Factory Business Intelligence
...when does the voting round begin?
Admin

I've seen the pricing issue at Best Buy fairly regularly, actually. If they have an open box returned before the price drops, and sticker the open box price, they don't seem to care to update the open-box price. If you take it to the counter, though, they'll give you the price of what the open box should be (x% of current price).
Or maybe my local store is just lazier than most others.
Admin
Admin
If you act now, we can take an additional 10% off this Geek Squad optimized device! Yes... yes, I'm aware the price is already very high compared to a standard item. No... you don't understand! This Rubik's Cube has been optimized by our Geek Squad technicians to be the ultimate Cube Experience.
Admin
Oh, yes, the good old CTO Error. It exists in many organizations, and is the mistake of promoting someone who knows nothing about development, system and network administration, or technical support to CTO.

Admin
There's no WTF here .. If you've been to Walthamstow, ????????? would be your reaction too..
Admin
FBI error? Dang that NSA_KEY!
Admin
I really like the Best Buy one.
I really like the Best Buy one.
Admin
Prefer naturally grown Instances over synthetic ones!
PS. To Askimet: this isn't spam. Really.
Admin
Maybe, but I'm pretty sure I've received spam with that exact wording.

"My 3-year old son printed this out for me from the Playhouse Disney website,"
Did anyone else have to do a double take after reading that as "Playboy Disney"?
Admin
Sorta. But "Penthouse Disney" instead.
Admin
"When the day is over, I go to sleep and dream of a world where the sky is blue... ... clouds look like this... ... and the women wear nothing but PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA"
Admin
FTFY (unless it's just a tiny tractor)
Admin
Apparently, with the economy still playing tough, Playboy and Penthouse merged into Playhouse - only to be bought out by Disney soon after that...
;o)
Admin
I actually thought it said "My 3-year old son printed this out for me from 'The Hun'"
Admin
You see five rubik's cubes
Admin
Admin
If you read the article you will see that the Pervasive PSQL wasn't on Lennart's workstation - it was on a network share but it got removed when he ran the installer.
Admin
"Walthamstow" means "WTF" in British.
Admin
...Because it is almost impossible for Disney Inc. to get any of its software to say "Apple".
-Harrow.
Admin
What's wrong with the "open item"? They charge you extra because they've already opened it for you, so of course you have to pay for the labor. If it was in one of those plastic packages that are welded together and require power tools and a flame-thrower to open, I might well be welling to pay double to have someone else open it for me.
Admin
My computer can do 3 billion things per second. I can average about one. Why should I ever ever have to wait for my computer once I have decided what I want to do? I want to click Next dammit, fucking let me click Next and if you can't keep up well at least give me the next screen to read so I can make another decision.
GUI programmers and their holy "usability" suck donkey balls.
And in case you still can't imagine any form of computing beyond what you learned while you were wearing diapers, the correct way is to provide a simple language that allows the user to succinctly express what they want to do, and store those instructions in a script. For example: "install psql". Now was that so bloody hard to understand?
Then the script can run in the background and take a week if necessary to do its thing, but meanwhile I can go on with my other work.
You're trying to program for Grandma and guess what, she's still too clueless no matter how colorful the cartoons you throw at her, so let's get back to letting smart people do real work and stop fighting the user who knows what they want done.

So, when a certain screen needs results from the previous operation, only then you do something that interferes with regular workflow. It may be a minor thing -- say that part of the screen shows grayed-out defaults, and if you agree with them you can still go to the next screen. Below the grayed-out part there's then a little message with a progress bar in it, that lets you know whazzup.

This is a funny error'd:

"It's people. Instance37003 is made out of people. They're making our food out of people. Next thing they'll be breeding us like cattle for food. You've gotta tell them. You've gotta tell them!"
Admin
The FBI has no jurisdiction in Europe.... yet.
