    I HEREBY DEMAND A F1RST SHIRT.

  • (cs)

That frist shrit is absolutely brillant

  • (cs)

Curious timing, we were just having performance issues on a couple of our linux servers today. I'm installing and checking it out now! Plus I'll be getting a nice TDWTF T-shirt. Too bad it won't mean anything to anyone who will see it.

  • Dan (unregistered)

TRTRWTF is the 2 New Relic ads on this page.

  • The REAL WTF (unregistered)

I take it the third tshirt is just a play on Apple and has nothing to do with the site? Or am I missing something?

  • Ioish (unregistered)

No chance of having a MFD themed shirt? :)

  • (cs)

I would actually pay real money for the second shirt.

    It's a Pear.... that's Programming!

Not really TDWTF related, but I thought it was very punny.

I thought it had something to do with the pear module for PHP...since I'm not a PHP programmer it still didn't make much sense.

And only now I realized that Paula is 'brillant'! Silly me!

    Captcha: decet ... indeed

  • neminem (unregistered)

So... if I want one of these t-shirts... would they be pissed at me if I signed up and "deployed" their software on a computer that wasn't actually running anything it would have any reason to measure, cause I'm not actually responsible for any such software?

That's how I did it a few months ago. Then a short while later, I found myself in charge of such software, signed up with them again, and I've been a happy customer ever since!

So yeah, I think they'd be okay with that.

  • Boggle (unregistered)

Is this limited to Yankees, or can Doggas play as well?

  • Danny (unregistered)

Okay, this is probably going to come across as a troll (and it's honestly not intended as such), but am I the only one who thinks the whole "Paula Bean" thing comes across as a bit misogynistic? Not the story itself as much as the whole big deal that's made of it on this site. "Hur, hur, look at the dumb girl, she can't program and she lied about it to cover it up." I grant it's an amusing story, but I can't help feel like it wouldn't have had nearly the longevity it's had it if it were Paul instead of Paula.

The reason it sticks isn't because of the name of the programmer (although that adds to the hilarity) - it's the brillant spelling she used in her comments that perpetuates the meme.

  • I love the third... (unregistered)

Is the third one only for pear 2 pear developpers ?

Ohmy thats actually pretty sweet, set it up for my JBoss server.

So awesome site + free t-shirt. This is a good day

I'm sure they'd happily send you the $6 t-shirt if you'll front the $90 in shipping charges. Although shipping to Ohio probably wouldn't be that expensive.

Apparently they ship worldwide. I installed the software yesterday and got a request to fill in the shipping address about 15 mins later. The fact that I live in Brazil didn't seem to be a problem. Great software btw, I'm sure this will come in handy!

No, I think it's because Paula is a living demonstration of the Dunning-Kruger effect, whereas your feelings are a living demonstration of the Progressive White Male Guilt Complex.

I'd love to try it out and get a free shirt, but this little application is a fucking pain in the ass to install, it was a pain in the ass back in the time of the mug day, and it still is a pain in the ass months later >_>

  • steve (unregistered)

    Where's the Binary XML t-shirt?

    or the 3-phase boolean t-shirt?

and shouldn't one of these feature a wooden table?

  • Iceman K (unregistered)

Not going to be burned again. Last year I went through the whole process of signing up, download, installing and testing the application, but did not get my free mug. After asking two or three times and getting ignored, I gave up. FWIW, the product is quite nice, but did not fit the kind of environments I work with.

How is it a pain in the ass? I installed it on my home business web server. It involved double clicking a file, then restarting IIS... less than 2 minutes.

That's a good point. I've never seen a post on this site that makes fun of a MALE who wrote bad code.

Oh, wait, that would be about 95% of the posts.

Who did you ask? I received a few emails forwarded from New Relic and some people contacted me directly, but I did try to help to everyone AFAIK.

I was wondering that just now. Free t-shirt is tempting, but I just wasted hours of my life over the free mug last time... It would install but wouldn't connect to their servers from memory.

  • Iceman K (unregistered) in reply to Alex Papadimoulis

Garret Scott (garrett at newrelic dot com.) Last email to him was on 12/8/2011 with no response:

Hi, It's been over two months and I have not received the mug. Was it ever mailed to me?

  • Anonysmouys (unregistered)

The install instructions are ridiculous - either you need root access and to be able to install it from apt or you need to be able to manually install it and restart the server.

How many people work for somewhere large enough to use this level of hosting but small enough not to care that you turned off one of the servers to get yourself a free t-shirt?

  • Kenny (unregistered)

Don't expect to ever get your prize. So far I'm owed a WTF Mug and a Helicopter. The software is awesome though.

  • Charles (unregistered) in reply to Alex Papadimoulis

Once you sit at a computer for long enough, you may begin to realize a pear shape, too!

  • not me (unregistered)

How about selling these T-Shirts instead? I don't wanna bother installing some software I won't ever need.

  • Nik (unregistered)

"Must have real data pass into our system, don’t just deploy on a local laptop."

Can I just buy the Paul Bean shirt? I don't have anything to profile.
