    multiples are nice.

  • Birfhum (unregistered)

I really like it this way!

  • (cs) in reply to Birfhum

My vote is for 1 annual post with 468 Screenshots.

Seriously though, I think the multi-post Monday Wednesdays and Fridays are better.

What happens if it is December 25th and you click the "Today" button?

Just think, only 164 days to wait until you find out. Don't get distracted by all those parcels under the tree...

The best example I've seen recently (though it looks like they've since fixed it) was the initial release of the Rimzu social networking site.

Everything was rendered by javascript (and we're talking a looooot of javascript), and it loaded the content for both registered users and the general public at the same time. The net effect was that on hitting the page, you spent several seconds looking at a page that said "You should never see this!" all over the place.

Screen shot (yes, I had plenty of time to take screen shots of it) and post here: http://www.blackmailr.com/smr/2007/04/25/i-guess-it-seemed-like-a-good-idea-at-the-time/

    3 screenshots * 3 days = 9 error'd/week 1 screenshot * 5 days = 5 error'd/week

    The choice is obvious

  • (cs)

Totally agree, at least three at a time would be great. I wouldn't even mind going back to once a week, the waiting just makes the receiving of new error'd so much better.

  • Scott B. (unregistered)

I miss Pop-up Potpourri so I like this new way better.

  • Caleb (unregistered)

I prefer them grouped into two or three per post like you've recently been doing.

    Captcha: digdug

  • Chris (unregistered)

3 a day as often as you'd like.

  • Kinglink (unregistered)

3 a day seems to work FAR better.

What exactly is a CD receiver (in the 3rd picture)? My first thought was that it was both a radio and a CD player, but it says at the bottom "Bluetooth/CD receiver." I understand receiving a bluetooth signal, but I didn't realize that CDs sent out a signal (other than audio). Does CD mean something else in this case?

  • (cs)

3 per day is better, it has a better chance of providing at least one really good one, based on each person's preferences. Individual ones also tend to cause more clutter in the rss readers.

Am I the only one twisted enough to find the message about the rules totally understandable?

I think the WTF they were trying to point out is that it used "select" instead of "selected".

If the select Rule is copied, the child references of the Rule will be copied, but the Rules that reference the Rule being copied as a Child Rule will not reference the new copied Rule as a child

    LOLLERSKATES1!

    I like 3 Error'ds

  • (cs) in reply to Andy

    Mass quantities.

  • (cs)

I propose 4/5 twice a week. Monday and Friday. Monday to make our Mondays less bad, and Friday to make our weekends even better.

As mentioned before, Wednesday is a better time for something in-depth.

No, it makes sense, but on first reading it's a bit of a "what the...?" I had to put my propeller hat on and read it a second time to sort it out.
  • (cs)

3 Error'd? If you select to put 3 Error'd on mon wed fri against one a day you'll bring us more laugh a time than laughing a little every day. The little laugh every day is not as funny as a big laugh every 3 days, but maybe is more funny to laugh every day than the other thing because you're laughing more often, but the Disappointment could be greater than the 3 error'ds to 3 days; this will happen if you see a boring error'd and you haven't another choice to get the laugh dose of the day.

The calendar is a little amusing. I think somebody made a control to use for work that excluded known holidays, and by reusing it in the wrong place is causing problems.

  • clicali (unregistered)

    I'll have a 3 Pot-pourri on wednesdays, no sugar.

  • Scott G. (unregistered)

Now we at least know part of the answer to 'What would Jesus drive?" Obviously, Jesus would NOT drive a motorcycle. Although with the long hair and beard, that seems quite odd...

  • Ohh my god! (unregistered)
  • (cs)

Three (or more!) at a time! :)

  • Val (unregistered)

It seems a calendar was reused form another application, maybe from one which managed appointments. And no appointments are possible to be made on a public holiday.

I understand the message, but not the question. My response is along the lines of "well, DUH..."

A similar and maybe more familiar question for some readers would be: "Copy folder? Copying this folder will copy everything in the folder but not other folders that contain this folder."

Why the f*** would you expect it to?

Applications like these are why I do all my DBA from the command line.

I think you should keep the normal format and post a WTF story on Friday as well - I look forward to these and I always get pissed that Friday just has a shitty code snippet and then a usually not-so-funny error message.

    Pot pourri style by far!

  • Kasprzol (unregistered)

The new style is OK -- even 5 shots a time would be great!

Or just bring back Pop-up Potpourri!! :)

  • (cs)

3-a-day. 3 times a week, thats a few more then normal, right?

Just don't get born on Dec 25. Sheesh...

Much prefer the three-fold version, and thank you!

(It doesn't matter if that means the posts have to become a little less common than they were.)

  • Rabbi (unregistered)

I prefer to have them in batches. One Error'd on it's own doesn't last long enough.

  • Max (unregistered)

I prefer as many as possible per time. It gets you in a laughing mood.

    BigPimpin':
The big WTF on the date screenshot is that you can select TODAY as the date!

I don't know about overseas, but I've never seen a newborn ride a motorcycle. I imagine that the helmet laws should be more strict when someone's skull hasn't yet hardened.

I noticed that to. This is a great example of a point I just read in an article today, code reuse isn't always a good thing.

BTW, I also agree with what everyone else seems to be saying. Give us several of these guys at once instead of spread out, its a lot better.

  • Benjamin Kay (unregistered)

Definitely prefer multiple per day. One may or not be funny, while three or more lets the hilarity build up!

  • andrew (unregistered)

    +1 to error'd 3x

  • David G (unregistered)

Jesus wasn't born on the 25th of December. Nobody knows when he was born. The date was chosen as a day to celebrate the birth of Jesus, and was not chosen because it was considered his birthday.

  • Tim (unregistered)

I prefer the single-posts. Also makes it more convenient when posting references to particularly amusing errors...

  • Tim (unregistered) in reply to Tim

..also, my birthday is christmas day. Good thing I don't have a motorbike I guess?

Vote? If the select question is Vote, the Vote Results of the Vote will be copied, but Votes that reference the Vote being copied as a Vote Result will not reference the new copied Vote as Vote Results.

3 shots per day, except on Christmas.

Not that you need any more "me too" votes, but I (too) like seeing them bunched into packages on fewer days.

Since you've asked however... Is there any way to subscribe to just a sub-set of your content? For example, do you have an RSS feed with just "Tales from the Interview"?
