I don't see how the Khartoum one is a fail. It is a bit arrogant to think that "sd" would mean only South Dakota, disregarding the fact that it is also the ISO code for Sudan.

What do you expect when you want to start your vacation at The End Of The World? Of course Google assumes that you will not return.

BTW - it is funny how everyone forgot about December 21st; where is my T-shirt with "I survived yet another End of the World"?

The freecycle one is correct. The Khartoum in Sudan state is quite close to whatever godforsaken hellhole Robert inhabits. The Khartoum in Khartoum state is the one which is a little further away.

Not really, the table has an empty cell so google just moves on to the next one instead and the rest of the row is shifted over by one.

I like that the important message to kids is in the page comments, where they will be sure to see it :)

Given that "sd" is Sudan and "SD" is South Dakota, I think Khartoum should've been at the top of the list, not the bottom. To do otherwise is inexcusably parochial.

I think this is confirming the accusation of parochialness, actually.

The South Dakotan cities should be at the bottom of the list because capital letters are larger, so they are also heavier, thus they sink to the bottom, duh. (I'm willing to be entertained by arguments about density of letters...)

Spearfish is in western South Dakota. It's actually quite pretty, and is near Mt. Rushmore, the Crazy Horse memorial, and the geographic center of the US.

"I think that Google has an interesting notion of Homepage and Filesize," wrote Mark J.
If you look at the page in question, that data's in a table with missing information in some cells.

Google search is just quoting bits from that table using some heuristic that mistakenly omits empty cells, throwing off the overall column layout.

WTF? We have a mention of an apparent female, and even a vague picture, and no one is pestering her about her hotness etc.?

I feel like I've crossed over to another reality. A kind of sad, cold, empty one.

Anthea baby, don't let this non-reaction be a blow to your self confidence. I, for one, still think you're the hottest hottie I've seen all day. Plus, you have brains enough to recognize that something is wrong with the lovely green and blue scenic view.

I'm so excited I'm considering ascending the stairs to my Mom's living room. In fact I might even go outside for a few minutes, just to calm down. Please tell me you'll still be here when I return?
