    First shalt thou answer to the admin defined challenge question. Then, shalt thou count to five. No more. No less. Five shalt be the number thou shalt count, and the number of counting shall be five. Six shalt thou not count, neither count thou four, excepting that thou then proceed to five. Seven is right out. Once at the number five, being the fifth number be reached, then, submittest thou thy response to admin defined challenge question.

    Or be the ultra-boring wank-meister to post about people posting their captchas!

    (but then here I am posting [about] people who post about people who post their captchas -- Doh!)

    (captcha: nulla -- just to keep you informed ;-> )

    I want to know, how many people use their web-browser function for doing calculation if you are already viewing a web-page, so you don't have to open another program? (It is useful to open another program if doing spreadsheets or something like that, but not for simple calculation, nearly any web-browser software can already do a simple calculation in JavaScript anyways)

    I just use Google.

    There is some REALLY bad programming behind the weather prediction one. It looks like there is a macro on that computer that takes a screen shot of some software and cuts it out to the specific pixels needed.
    They should have done it like in the bottom one: print it out and take a picture of the printout on a wooden table. n00bz!111

    Yup. Aaron showed some nice wood.

    The real sand thing about this is that Alex made the images Adblock friendly and none of the whiners and conspiracy theorist seem to have notice...

    Is that why I suddenly can't see the pictures google reader & my igoogle rss feed, the only 2 ways I have to get around my company's internet filter and read thedailywtf from work.

    Maybe I'm gonna read EULA's as well =P

    Addendum (2008-12-16 22:33):

    Mozy - The end user license agreement text displayed in the Mozy software contains (as of August 2008) the text 'DO NOT TAUNT HAPPY FUN BALL' in the middle of the lengthy 'LIMITATION OF LIABILITY' section.[1]

    Windows graphics libraries seem to work like that. They actually do paint stuff to a window and then take a screenshot.

    I wonder why no Windows developer actually figured out how to construct the image in memory and then send it over the network without going through the graphics card. (Especially when there are Java toolkits - and many Linux/UNIX based libraries - that actually do that.)

    While it was taking a long time to perform some task the other day, the status was "Reticulating Splines..." -- pretty funny too.

    That comes from Sim City 2000, when you start a new city. It's the final (or almost final) step of the terrain generation.

    In a bizarre coincidence I downloaded SC2000 for my PSP yesterday and saw that message.

    Decimal, as in "FF"?

    Yes. It's base A, therefore decimal. FF = F*A+F.

  • Anon (unregistered)

    The real WTF on the receipt? That FF (i.e. 255%) would be $55.85. What hex calculator are they using over there?

    You have missed the structure/purpose of Binary Coded Decimal (BCD). Each half-byte only goes 0-9, therefore the maximum value is 99 (both as decimal and BCD). BCD is primary used for display with simple ciffer displays.

    Any toy in the Netherlands (and probably in the EU) that contains small parts has a symbol of a 'prohibited' sign with the text "0-3" and a sad-looking toddler on it; that is, kids up to age 3 can't use it.

    I think the thing is that toys suitable for kids under 3 years of age are subjected to stricter rules than those for ages 3 and up. At least it's not like the result is an empty set. It's just that one constraint makes the other redundant.

    My quick launcher panel applet does math for me, in addition to launching programs, it is perfectly happy with "firefox<enter>" or with "0x7F & (2+9)<enter>" :)

    Heretic! The one true calculator for PCs is GHCi, everyone knows that. Its power extends far beyond calculating with simple numbers, foolish mortal! For instance to concatenate files named "file001" through "file100" into a new file "output" one does not have to switch to a lowly shell. Instead,

    mapM (readFile . ("file"++) . (\s -> replicate (3 - length s) '0' ++ s) . show) [1..100]
      >>= writeFile "output" . concat

    are entirely sufficient.

    Yeah, her average looks and the consternated look (punintended) on her face produce a particularly poor pick of a photographic picture provided for product promotion purposes.

    Now, does anyone remember Irish Girl's face (the body part about one foot above her, err, splendid T-shirt) for comparison?
