The irony of which is that, like the other big names, Microsoft is making huge efforts to force people to sign up to their network - and now they just flip off 0.3% of the Earth's population.

That statement is definitely wrong. This would only be true if it's EVERY 1th of January (which it probably isn't). So either it's only 1th of January 1970. In which case it's a lot less than 0.3% Or it's 1th of January 1970 and everything earlier. In which case it would be a LOT more than 0.3%

OK... you explained the firth. But what about the fist of January? Or fourd?

The real WTF is a computer mouse for £15,000 plus delivery
When I searched for it on amazon I couldn't find it. (Just a lot of anime girl stuff.) But I found it here.

I wouldn't buy it though, theres a bunch of rocks where my hand rests. Not very comfortable.

"...are made of 750% white gold..."

About sums it up.. if you're a moron - buy it!

And it's not even the world's most expensive generally available retail computer mouse!!!

Top 10 most expensive Computer Mice in the world

That #1 is mighty attractive looking. More Reminiscent in shape of a dolphin than a mouse. Bet it's a bugger for RSI, though ...

Apparently nobody in Australia has a job
The Tories have been in power for a few months now, so that's pretty much right.

Yeah, it takes a while to clean up after Labor.

Remember, we don't have to go back to before the introduction of the Gregorian calendar, so it's not as complicated as some date functions need to be.
You think so? Which was the last country to fully adopt (for secular purposes) the Gregorian calendar, and *when*?

Well, if we are talking about Europe, it was Greece, in 1923.

If we are talking about world-wide, well, um, a half-dozen or so countries still don't use it.

Conclusion, in the general case, you still have to worry about non-Gregorian calendars, and even if you restrict yourself to Europe, North America, and Australia+New Zealand, there are still people whose legal birth-date was originally cited in the Julian calendar...

We should be so lucky to have that problem. We don't even have customers in all 50 states, let alone all of North America. We're FDA approved, and that's hard enough. Getting approval in other countries is not worth it at this time.

The real WTF here is that clearlooks and dejavu theme in 2014.

  • Manok (unregistered)

The problem with 1 jan 1970 is that, it is considered to be epoch time (zero time). Some systems use UTC 1 Jan 1970 as epoch time. So, in some timezones 1 Jan 1970 becomes negative, and system considers it an error. 2 Jan would never be negative so it is always accepted.
