Oh well Regenesis is actually not that bad of a show! I however did not know either that DO NOT USE starred in it. Twice.
Admin
Jason should be happy. My first-gen SideKick got bricked repeatedly due to forced T-Mobile OTA updates. I would've taken a 2069 next-update at any point during that fiasco.

Captcha: genitus. Make your own joke...
Admin
Sheesh, obviously you're supposed to use latin digits, as they're alphabetical as well.
Admin
Agreed. I wish I could load my photo archive because I know that street light (I think I puked on it a few years ago) and I wonder how long it's been that way.

just a top of mind, of course... =)

"I noticed this crosswalk light in Washington, DC," Abe writes. "It gives a whole new meaning to 'counting backwards'."
If the new meaning of backwards is upside down.
Admin
Since your mom looked at them. ZING!

Look, I understand your discomfort, but if we relax the password policies the system might be used by terrists! You don't want that, do you? Do you???

Knowing Boston roads and signs, I'm not sure the google maps one is wrong.

Admin
This is Washington DC, they do everything upside down and backwards.
Admin
60 years is pretty much the minimum contract if you want a "free" phone these days.
Admin
Admin
I don't see how that could have happened with the countdown sign. They tested it with the usual "88" when it was put in and everything looked fine then.
Admin
That's awesome. It copy-pastes, even O_O
Admin
Holy shit... That just blew my mind. I've been reading this site for a long time, and that's by far the best copy-the-article comment I've ever seen. I actually hate the copy-the-article posts -- they're old and contrived, but this is simply awesome.
Bravo!
Admin
Also, I don't know who's in charge of blue comments, but get their ass on the phone!!

Worst abuse of UTF. Ever.

Gah! When will people realise that 1 in Roman numerals is I, not 1. All the other characters are letters, is it really that hard?
Sorry, I had this argument with my primary school teacher when I was 9, and haven't quite got over it yet.
Admin
I was recently asked for a pin number (up to 10 digits) and used 2718281828. This is a university (where I work) site that is relatively low security (web accessible, but you'd need my name, my id number and you'd also need to care) so I wasn't particularly worried about it being compromised. It told me that the pin was bad because of the repeated digits, so I tried 271828 which worked just fine. Right, that improved my security quite a bit.
Admin
Now if 1 Turned out to be I 1 don't mind... 1 don't mind.
Admin
Agreed.

American pedestrian crossings have COUNTDOWN TIMERS? Why? I have never in my life felt the need for that.

"I noticed this crosswalk light in Washington, DC," Abe writes. "It gives a whole new meaning to 'counting backwards'."
Thats Numberwang!

Admin
Let me guess -- you're posting from Australia, right?
Admin
Ahh, so other people do watch that.
6 ... 300 ... 4.67 ... That's Numberwang! Genius.
Admin
Look at the rotating sign. The letters aren't Roman numerals. L1 would be 71 if the seven wasn't rotated. h3110!
Admin
I'll see your 109-digit password and raise you 18,770 digits:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/276304
"Error Message: Your Password Must Be at Least 18770 Characters and Cannot Repeat Any of Your Previous 30689 Passwords"
I love that one... saw it years ago.
Admin
So, as my "69 Dude!" comment was removed, I'm guessing that Bill & Ted references are banned. Wtf?
Admin
DC must be the home of broken walk lights or something. Once when I was sitting around after a concert I watched one count down from 99, stop at 61, bounce between random numbers for a while, then go to 99 again.
Admin
I recently registered on some site -- I forget what site it was now -- and entered a password that was 8 characters, including upper and lower case letters, digits, and a special character. And I got a message back, "Password insufficiently secure". That was the entire message. No hint of what the rules were to pass their sufficiently-secure test. As I already had all the usual things, what was I supposed to do next? I tried changing one of the letters to a pound sign. Still no luck. I tried several other variations. All rejected. Finally I got the brainstorm that maybe they didn't like the fact that the two digits in the number were both zero, so I changed one to a nine. Then it accepted.
Moral: If you're going to reject a user input, give the poor sap a clue what would make a valid input.

I think "Default Sign Text Highway" may be right near this street:

it helps pedestrians on multilane streets. If i have to cross 3/4 lanes of traffic (like here in chicago, Michigan ave) with speeding cabbies and dickhead drivers, i want to know if i have a fresh or stale light.
it helps the driver too, it gives some warning of a light change, reducing red-light running without those awful cameras. That said, by reducing red-light tickets, they'll probably be declared illegal soon.

You people are pathetic. You'd think on a site like this there would be a competent complement of geeks in the forums. But what do we get? A bunch of people fawning over a text hack that's been floating around for over a year, and not a single reference to the first thing that popped into my mind-- the upside down bomb timer from the Futurama episode about the giant garbage ball.
Admin
Heh, that should be 3-4, 3/4 lanes only good for smart cars... ;)
Admin
Okay fawning over a cartoon that's been off the air for longer than "over a year" is preferrential to being impressed that someone had the wit to grab that text hack and use it in a very amusing way, how?
Admin
It is wrong, the actual sign says, "FILE NOT FOUND"
