It's what the default GTK+ theme looks like. But you wouldn't know that, if you use Windows, Mac OS X or KDE or are sane in another way.

    TRWTF is GTK+.

Actually, on one of my boxes I have run out of letters - all taken from A: to Z:

TRWTF is that so many programs still require drive letters instead of supporting UNC paths!

  • (cs) in reply to Shachar

It's not Wine, it's Windows Vista or better. It's just nVidia's installer throwing up and not recognizing the OS version. If you look closely, you can see there's a space too much after the word 'Windows', so something should go there. Something like 'XP', 'Vista', 'ME'...

On my original Asus Eeep 4g with preistalled Xandros there is no D:/. I.e. unless you insert a SD-Card, which is mountet as /home/user/D: und works just fine. If I try tab on D: in the shell, it however expands to D:D:.

I can tell you that was done on purpose.
It would be better to try to get the address of:
    char const * ntdll!wine_get_user_name();
That said, the project's official stance is that any way of detecting Wine might be broken in a future version.

Once upon a time I tried to install Internet Explorer under Wine. It didn't complain about the operating system. Instead it complained that I already had a newer version of Internet Explorer installed.

erm... Firefox has always had tabs. Even before it was called Firefox, the first (limited) release - Phoenix 0.1 - had tabs.

    Gary:
[email protected] has 6 characters. Can a TLD have an e-mail address (b@ru for beer-loving ruskies, e.g.)?
A company claims that url=http://www.eph.co.uk/resources/email-address-length-faq/]someone once used n@ai[/url], although ai. doesn't have a DNS entry now.

Having an e-mail address on a TLD sounds like a good way to find out who doesn't know how to validate e-mail addresses, but a bad way to send or receive e-mails reliably.

I do like "whois www.nic.ac", though:

You guys all missed that there's a space after both instances of "Windows" in the dialog, which means that it's almost certainly missing a version that was meant to go in there. My guess is that it's supposed to say XP and it's a Vista/7 system (the visual style is consistent), but someone farked up the printf.

Since it's nVidia, it's guaranteed to be a C printf. They hate high level languages.

State of Franklin Savings bank was not "named in honor of Ben Franklin". The bank was given the name the area was at one time known as. That area, a proposed state of the union, was named in honor of Ben Franklin.

If the bank were named after the man, it would probably be the Ben Franklin Savings Bank or something similar. Ben Franklin was never a state.

Some people confuse cause and effect.

Addendum (2011-08-29 09:00): I was looking at WP for the Firefox screenshots - I didn't get that v1 had tabbed browsing, guess I misread the description of V2.

It's a fairly recent Firefox, but that's not an addon or a skin. It's a window decorator (and an ugly one) used by KDE, Gnome, Xfce, or perhaps maybe one of the more obscure desktops like Fluxbox, Openbox, Ion.

In any case, it's Linux (small chance that it's some Unix), but my money isn't on Windows or MacOS.

I don't get what's funny about the gas pump. Obviously this is intended for people who drive those small Japanese cars. Rather than having to mess with a hose and nozzle and risk spilling gas and creating a safety hazard, you just pick up the car and insert it into the pump.

The NVIDIA error dialog was indeed related to the different versions of Windows - it was probably Vista (as was pointed out, you can see the extra space between 'Windows' and '.') and no, we weren't trying to install it using Wine. Sadly, it has been at least 5 months since I sent that message and the original screenshot is long gone.
