    I don't get it. Where's the WTF?

It's that it dropped to a historic low in Canada.

    :P

The real WTF is that they've put expiry date on salt. I mean, it's SALT! It's a frelling ROCK! It does NOT expire!

How do you know? The fact that no rocks have expired yet does not mean that they don't.

"And the Real WTF is actually using Ping Himalayan Crystal Salt. It's friggin salt, at x40 the price!"

    Their putters are expensive, too.

Being a native danish speaking, I can say for sure that "mindst holdbar til" IS the danish version of "best before" - probably also the norwegian with very minor changes in spelling.

  • Elghund (unregistered) in reply to René Vutborg

There are three varieties of this kind of deadline in Norwegian as far as I know:

    1. "Holdbar til (date)" (or "minst holdbar til (date)") means it must be consumed by that date, or the product might be bad for your health. This is what you see on perishable items such as ground meat or milk.

    2. "Bør brukes innen (date)", means it ought to be consumed by the date shown, but you won't get sick if you were to eat it a week or so afterwards, but a year or more might be pushing it.

    3. "Best før", which means that the product or food is at its best before the date, but it may be eaten for a long time afterwards. It might no longer be perfect, but it is still safe. This latter is typically what products such as this salt would be labeled with, just to satisfy the demand for some, any, expiry date at all. Instead, the markings seem to indicate that this salt will become unhealthful soon after January 1 3001 ...

As for the "SANEX ROLL-ON ASS." the word "varenr." (stock reference number) also suggests either Norwegian or Danish. The ASS. has nothing to do with anyones posterior nor any animal; it is most likely an abbreviation for "assortert", indicating that these 50 mL roll-on deodorants, (yes, it is called "roll-on" in Norwegian at least) come with a mix of varieties in the box.

No indications on when these expire tho...

Nope. It's the dutch "best before"...

Dutch? Well no. It looks more like one of the Nordic languages.

they were able to figure out the expiration date down to the day
Not just the day but the exact time! That's 30 hundred hours (military time).

Oh. I thought they were predicting that by the year 3000 we'd be all using a calendar system with 30 months of 12 or 13 days each.

I think they figured that would be around the time Americans switched to a more sane date format.

Actually the Danish format isn't that sane either, a sane format would be YYYY-MM-DD HH:MM:SS - that is going from highest denominator to lowest, if everyone could agree on that quite a lot of cockups would be avoided.

In terms of asking the date I think the year is a less of a frequently asked question so therefore does not ever need to be first (Unless your an absolute headcase and keep forgetting what year it is).

Time is more frequently asked so that should come first. People never ask "what second is this" so seconds aren't necessary but if needed should be at the end of the time, depends how anal you want to be.

HH:MM DD-MM-YYYY Is clearly the best option imo.

Not much will have changed by the year 3000. It'll be pretty much the same, except everyone will live underwater.

Addendum 2023-03-15 23:12: By the way about images in general, I really like to send some funny images to friends and acquaintances, for example with the moments of fails. This is really hilarious, I did not even expect when I saw so many stock fall images and now I often use them in my posts. It's actually awesome. So if you're interested you can read more about it too. Good luck, hope i helped.
