    Users with no shell do not deserve to read this.

    #!/bin/sh perl -e 'print qq/'(snip)' | gunzip

    | base64 -d | uudecode | perl -e 'tr/a-zA-Z/n-za-mN-ZA-M/ and print while <>'

    Oh, come on. Like it takes more than 5 seconds to figure that out.

    Besides, you've made a couple errors. You can replace the whole perl command with 'rot13'. And if you don't have 'rot13', you don't need the 'while <>'. It's just a waste. Try:

    perl -ne 'tr/a-zA-Z/n-za-mN-ZA-M/; print'

    That saves you 11 characters.

    The advantage of my Python script, is that it takes the parameter N (from rotN) as an argument. It allowed me to bruteforce and find the N you are using. And it's not affected by your "512 gny" trick :)

    the old zipcrypto is flawed. But some zip programs support AES encryption now. (winzip, beta 7zip)

    The AES encryption is flawed too. http://eprint.iacr.org/2004/078

    Winzip is far from being a decent tool to protect sensitive data...

    "Illusion of security" indeed. The zip password protection is a joke. Programs to get past it are easily available on the net. Just like programs to "find your lost AIM password."

    have you tried any of them ?

    Except it isn't ROT-5, it's ROT-21.

    (Maybe if you're going backwards instead of forwards, though... ;p)
