Um, where I shop, at Albertson's, the self-checkout only asks you to put the item in the bag if you are slow doing it.
    Good shop, it seems.
I think the problem here is how YOU are using the system!

    David

Maybe, maybe not. There are self-service thingies which don't allow you to do it moderately fast. I haven't yet used one where I had to wait until prompted before putting the items in the bag, but a couple were so confused when I took less than 15 seconds between scanning two items that they had to be rebooted :)

Those error messages are actually valid VB6 source code.

But I guess they have a lot of maroons pumping for gas there.

What do runaway slaves have to do with anything?

Crazy Europeans... Can't they just learn to use real governments?
And they say American humor isn't subtle.
However, this humour isn't subtle. It is non-existent.

"I was looking at getting a new truck and decided to 'build my own' on Chevy.com," wrote Brian Yager. "I clicked on 'Audio System with MP3 Compatible CD/DVD Player and DVD-Based Navigation' to see what it included and was disappointed that I could only afford 50 null's!"

Nulls...the new American Currency. Freshly Printed. Only accepted at government controlled bankrupted companies.

Don't get how JayC is having difficulty with the options of either the 13th or the 3rd Wednesday of the month. It doesn't state they have to be mutual.

And as for James Shuttleworth, am I missing something in the picture or is the idea of inserting your Chip & Pin card into the top of the machine, with the chip facing you, too difficult?

The Dairy Queen sign in Fargo had me speechless for a minute because I saw exactly the same thing -- and I do mean EXACTLY, right down to the PRECISE TEMPERATURE INDICATED -- in Central New York State.

This must be telling us something about the inner workings of these signs, such as their using the same component somewhere. I wonder whether the failure occurred on the same date? Mine was on April 19, 2009.

It was the Google maps API spitting that out.
