I don't mean to be racist, or bigoted... I really don't mind having a bunch of Indian (or other) people taking our jobs.

What bugs me is having to talk to them on the phone. Not because anything's wrong with them -- I am just not good with accents.

So when there's already an accent in the email:

Was going to turn to Filipinos but want to touch with you to see you rates.

Great. So either I'll be reporting to someone I can't understand, or this is really porn spam in disguise.

I have to work with people from india sometimes. It's even more hard for me because we speak english and they are a lot worse at it than me. One time, this one indian took a piss during a telephone conference. I kid you not. We could hear everything he was doing, from opening the toilet door to flushing. We all (3 german people) had to disable our telephone microphones because we bursted out in laughter, while the other indians kept on talking as if there was nothing to it.

No, it's just a local hill-billy recruitment "consultant."

They've probably got a GED high-school equivalency. Some of them will have an impenetrable Southron accent; some of them will have a Western twang.

I'd deal with the lapses in the US educational system before I started to worry about talking to a nice girl in Bangalore with an enchanting sing-song accent ...

    ... but that's just me.

Re: There Will Be Some Benefit 2008-06-02 10:49 • by ChiefCrazyTalk Hmmm At first I thought the WTF was that they sent you an incorrectly merged form letter with **** instead of the company name, tnen I realized anonymasation - so I dont see the WTF, although the genious part is a bit funny.

    WTF's:

    1. That someone told them the code was "genious" and they believed them.

Genius code usually means some jerk used every convoluted way to do something simple because he was learning to program as he went along.

    1. That they would actually say that working on someone else's code would make up for the low pay.

Anyone who has ever looked at anyone else's code knows that everyone's code except their own sucks.

    1. That you had to ask.

You don't code for a living.
