Don't get the Famiclone one? Aside from the extra exclamation mark, I can't see any extra *letters*...
    Brillant.

What is a brill ant? Some kind of aquatic ant?

I don't see the WTF either, maybe I'm not brilliant enough.

I think it's the Paula Bean reference, although there's also:

    • More dot points than dots
    • Excalamation mark in front of 'Absolutely'
    • the seemingly unnecessary/meaningless/useless '!Absolutely Brilliant!'

    The Dutch is TRWTF! Amiright?

I mean come on, is it Holland or the Netherlands? Make you fucking minds up. And their entire flood defense system consists of young boys with their fingers in dykes (wow that sounded bad).

Actually, no. You're not right. The country is called the Netherlands. Holland is a region. See? Nothing to make mind up about.
Oh come on. Everyone knows that Holland is the capitol of Denmark.

But why does it format the part after the decimal?
Your word for the day is regexp, as in:

"Using a regexp is a great way to add digit grouping symbols to a number!"

    No, it's just your run-of-the-mill floating-point WTF.

That doesn't explain the formatting at all.

TRWTF about that slightly-Dutch dialog is that both buttons are titled Annuleren (Cancel).
    Hence the phrase "two cancel-buttons".

The one with the keyboard would make sense if the prices are in reverse order. Even so, TRWTF is the backward use of the comma and period. Aren't those suppose to be used the other way around? Or did the EU finally started to admit that they was being silly about their use of the decimal point and went about fixing it in the usual sneaky underhanded fashion?

Go to any forum and ask how to do number formatting. A good two thirds of the responses will probably involve a regexp, and at least several will include this exact bug (digit grouping the portion after the decimal point).

I'm pretty sure I read some math textbooks published in the 19th century that had commas every three digits after decimal points.

Pretty much. Though I've sent it years ago, so I don't remeber if that was the joke, or I've seen something else in it.

Also, TRWTF is Mark, for failing to copy and paste my name.

The word has the correct number of letters, but it's difficult to tell if the word is "Brilliant" or "Brllllant" (all-caps: BRLLLLANT).

    Brillant.

Except it says "Brilliant"..., though the font isn't that readable, due to the magnification, I guess.

  • Axel (unregistered)

Geez, guys! The extra letter is the second "i" in "brilliant", a reference to the ever-popular tale of "The Brillant Paula Bean". There are so many callbacks to it on this site, it should be considered required reading.
