7% of communication is verbal. Words convey 7% of meaning. 38% is vocal--intonation, inflection, speaking speed and rhythm, and so on--and 55% is body language--facial expressions, hand movements, posture, the like.

Absolute fucking crap. Is that why your post was 14x longer than it should have been? Because it's only communicating at 7% efficiency?

Then bucks that guy is Tres Roeder posting under a pseudonym.

Nope. It was me, posting from my tablet which wouldn't log me in.

I'll take the Then bucks in Irish Elk, please.

Common German example for two ways: McDonalds meals
    • Eat in the restaurant and it is considered "luxury", so the full VAT rate applies
    • Take away and it is considered a basic nutrition item at reduced VAT

Same item, same end price (although the restaurants could decide to charge less for takeaway, but they don't), but different share of VAT, and all just depends on the way how it was sold, not what was sold ...

Could someone please explain to me why the people who suggest America needs to emulate Europe in matters like this are not laughed off the stage immediately? Every time I think my country gets it wrong, another country shows an example of getting it wronger (bad grammar intended).

Oh good, time for a non-WTF. This is a relief.

One time I told my boss I found a solution to a problem. He said "Make it so." I said "Dammit boss, I'm a computer programmer, not a sewing machine repairer."

And then your boss slapped you with a wet mackerel, because he was quoting from TNG, and you were quoting from TOS.

    Amateur.

To steal a line from a Brit: America is the worst country in the world, except for every other one.

This used to be true in the UK too, but only for milkshakes. Of course, there are still oddities in UK VAT legislation, for instance Florentines are standard rated but Lebkuchen are not; Arctic rolls are standard rated but baked Alaska is not.

At one point when I tried to lookup VAT rates the document I read suggested that meals (but not drinks) in restaurants (but not vending machines, takeaways or room service) were charged at 5% whatever the rate the food would normally have qualified for, but I suppose the rules must have changed again since.

If I were Tim, I probably would have gone ape and beaten the formula out of Reggie. That is, if he indeed knew the formula, and wasn't just bluffing to cover up for not knowing it.
