I'd say, block all comments that are more than one-third or so links?

Note from Alex: To keep the large number of picture/image files organized, Error'd goes to the /errord folder, souvenir pics go to /souv folder, ads go to /ads folder, etc. I guess when it comes to making decisions to make my life easier, worrying about how my file organizational choices will impact those who block ads on the site isn't really at the top of the list...
Getting rid of the adverts that other people put on your site (say, for handbags or jewelry) isn't exactly at the top of the list either, or so it seems.

    But then we wouldn't get:

Yes your comment is very good, we have the same belief with you, so let me introduce the area to you. Now worse than failure become more adn more popular wihtin all kind of people. DailyWTF is kind of a scary series hitting too close to home. It won a good reputation. TDWTF often held its regular activities file not found. Benefit from the discount you can (if talk like Yoda you will), We assure you of our best errors at all times.

Don't waste time working out a word to link ratio, just block any comment with more than 3 or 4 links. Most genuine comments will not have more than one or two links max so this should catch most spam. Spammers may try to get around it but let's be honest, their main reason for posting here is upping their page rank and if they can't post links then they can't affect their page rank and they're not going to bother.

    Oh, and:

    Obviously!

What is ironic, nay sad, is that this is a site about questionable programming, and yet it has a terrible spam-to-comment ratio. Surely some reader could come up with something that works a bit better?

To all you ad-blocking whiners.... Are you idiots? What you are doing is tantamount yo returning something you stole to the store you stole it from because it didn't work. Morons.

Why is Borat in that first picture?

#1: You think your classmates are the real WTF. #2: You graduate from school, start a job, and realize that your coworkers are the real WTF. #3: You discover TheDailyWTF and realize that these other persons' coworkers are the real WTF. #4: You try to post a comment and realize that the forum software is the real WTF. #5: You get bored and read all the other comments and realize that the other commenters are the real WTF.

Looks like @@|https://thedailywtf.com/images/ads/$image was added to the EasyList in ABP, so future crisis averted.

Then again, I use NoScript, which gets rid of practically all the annoying ads, leaves the good ones behind, and thus, still support the site.

There are no good ads. :P

I beg to differ... <imagine photo of Irish Girl ad>

(sorry can't find a picture of her while I'm at work)

I thought he'd stopped putting the images in a directory that would obviously blocked, thus showing that these articles were not, in fact, cheap attempts at getting people to disable AdBlock? Did he forget or just stop caring again? Then again, considering the linking fail in the third image (apparently he doesn't even proofread enough to tell that a large image is missing), maybe he doesn't care if *anyone* can see them.

Alex - we all completely understand what you mean. We just wish it weren't so!

Am I the only one here who can remember using FMS-80? I had hoped that it would be more productive than dBase-II, but alas, the turgidity of the manual, combined with the obtuseness of its programming language meant it was relegated to the "Never to be Used Again" shelf, along with JRT Modula-2. (BTW JRT people, I'm still waiting for my working copy of JRT M-2...)
