Fistula.
So if you don't know a baud from a floppy, their ad goes off into 8-bit, 16-bit, hard and floppy disks, etc. Hmm...
Admin
Ads again? Okay, I know there are loads of stupid ads. You can see them anywhere when you browse the web. Who cares about them? :P
/me wants to read his daily WTF :|
Admin
For more gems like these, just turn to the last 5-10 pages of any pc magazine, such as, ahem, PC Magazine, Computer World, or whatever. They've got a load of wtf type ads.
Admin
Yeah, they really messed up when the put that picture of an alarm clock. They must've meant to put a picture of a watch.
Admin
I'm not running any adblockers or anything else that should interfere with image loading, but there isn't a single image in that story when I view it.
Admin
I'll stick with my electric fireplace that those nice Amish people made for me.
Admin
That last one sounds like an ad for the Vehicle-Mounted Active Denial System (V-MADS).
Admin
SAme here. I use FF 3 , I have an ad blocker and noflash/noscript, but I "allowed" wtf. Still no luck. For the same 2 other article on old advert, I get no luck. Just text and no picture....
Admin
Same in FF3 and IE7. When I save the image I get 43 bytes. I thought I'd share them with you:
GIF89a € ÿÿÿ !ù , D ;
Admin
The ads only show up when I use Chrome or Opera, not FF3. Very strange.
Admin
maybe you should learn how to use adblock?
Admin
Do you use Kaspersky?
Admin
Worked fine for me in FF3
Admin
How, exactly, are they fitting a 24" dish into a 19"x19"x4 1/2" corrugated carton?
Admin
They probably broke the disk into 4 parts and you had to assemble it. Remember seeing dishes like that back in those days.
Admin
End of ad1 "how easy the EZ-1 really is ... except in Alaska and Hawaii"
Admin
The guy in the Quasar ad looks like the love child of Judd Hirsch and Richard Nixon.
Admin
I can't get the images either, but I can't figure out what this would have to do with the hood from the cloak of a Capuchin monk.
Admin
I plead "Trusting MS Word Spell Check" fail. [image] You figure the one time I write an article in something other than Wordpad... -MB
Admin
I'm taking bets for next weeks What the Ad post.
How many comments will be posted before the forum devolves into Tier 1 tech support?
Seriously, if you're reading this site, you should be able to figure out an ad-blocker...or at least have enough shame to not speak up when you can't figure it out.
Admin
AdblockPlus is blocking them, since the images have been placed in a "/images/ads/" folder...
Admin
Damn! Foiled again! OK, maybe TRWTF is that I should look at the last comments before pressing the Submit button...
Admin
I don't have an ad blocker and am using Opera, but I'm never ever able to see the ad pictures. All other pictures such as Error'd work just fine. What WTF am I doing then?
Admin
Did you miss the part where I said I didn't have an adblocker installed? Ubuntu 8.10 + Konqueror, so no Kapersky or anything similar either.
I'm not so much looking for tech support as telling the Powers That Be that there's something odd going on.
Admin
Lot of complaints about FF3 with Adblock. Whenever I enable Adblock, it blocks the image based on the filter /ads/.*
Looks like its blocking everything from https://thedailywtf.com/images/ads
That's pretty funny, actually.
Admin
I miss nothing.
The part you quoted was generalized to the type of tech support requests this section is most inundated with. The reason I quoted you had to do with the first part of my comment...you were the one who started this (at least, in this particular article).
Oh and you don't need to wait for the powers that be...just read any one of the 4 posts before yours to see that the problem is on your end...odd or not.

Maybe I'm being too nice but the first ad appears to be highlighting the differences between an electric/manual typewriter and a computer. Which means their comments, while amusing from today's context, weren't really all that strange.
Admin
It's possible to allow the images for this site only. That'll of course allow any other images from that images/ads directory, which will make the ads work again. Sneaky.
Admin
Why does that ad ask if I've kissed my computer lately?
WhyTF would I kiss my computer?
Admin
I allow ads on this site (and other selected sites I browse regularly) - because I've never found them annoying... as soon as I do then I block them. I think it's the only way site owners learn to filter the type and source of ads they use.
Maybe I'm a purist but I feel that ad-blockers were designed to block the annoyance of popup/floating/flashing and ugly ads, not to block valid revenue streams.
Admin
No offense, but this was one of the worst TDWTF articles I've ever seen. Not only were the ads not that funny or interesting and reminiscent of the previous ads post not too long ago, but the comments afterwards were silly, and as stated before, partially incorrect. Please please rewrite the article to a high school reading level before posting them Alex! I can't wait for tomorrow's WTF.

I use adblock+ with FF3, and then enable the page. it seems to work well enough

Let me save you some brain cell wear and tear - add this to your Adblock Plus rules:

It's funny how they have about one fifth of an "R", and "'S EZ-1" on the card you were supposed to send in. At least they didn't call it the "EX-1".
Admin
Lately some of your posts have images that don't show up in Camino or NetNewsWire - but do in Firefox. Not really sure why, but it'd be sweet to be able to check the stuff in my rss reader or my primary browser, not just FF. Just sayin!
Admin
May be they think everyone have computer like this (may be NSFW?)...

I can't see them in either Firefox or MSIE.

Even worse, he's going to buy it convinced that it's "ease of use" means its the best thing since sliced bread and his secretary (who does all of his typing for him anyway) is going to pull out her IBM selectric and fire off his letter in 1/4 of the time it would take her to spew it out of that machine.
Admin
The AD asks me if I kissed my computer lately... actually I shag it every night. Thanks to the glorious FUFME back from 1999. I kept an old 386 just for the purpose, so I don't care a lot in case it gets... sprayed every now and then lol :)
