That was such an amusing misspelling, I almost needed the product.

So the 2nd WTF on that DHL page is that they localized the date but not the rest of the page. Apparently DHL expects its customers to be trilingual?

32K RAM? Hopefully that is just a status message when the display is rebooting. Hmm, is that bus going to the factory that makes Ram trucks? Unfortunately, that facility is way over in Michigan, not the Toronto area, so probably not.

It's Bus Route 32-K, which terminates at Really Awesome Market (Square)

"Hello, thank you for calling the DHL Help Line. To locate your package, please place a map on a wooden table and recite the following spell, 'Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetuer adipiscing elit.' "

32K RAM seems reasonable for what is most likely a 16-bit microcontroller running the matrix LED display. What is the WTF here? That it might be broken and stuck in a boot loop?

Didn't have to use Bacon Ipsum or Hipster Ipsum instead of that vanilla stuffs...but it'd be a lot cooler if they did.

it's the demo loop so it has no config set or it's config was lost.

Wow, that street car has rammed 32,000 objects?

I've used those signs. They boot up in either a demo loop (default), a preprogrammed message, or optionally, with a battery the last message sent to it (using NVRAM). I've had a high end unit that had RAM, NVRAM, RTC and a few other features. By default the unit uses NVRAM so on boot it will run through the list of features and then display the last message.

You can preprogram messages into the RAM and program in a "script" that lets you play back messages in an order, or use the RAM to hold bitmaps you can display. A RAM only unit is fine if you're using the sign in a controlled environment where you need to update what it says all the time, whereas a store might want an NVRAM unit so they can program in their messages and have the sign autonomously run.

Of course, the thing is the sign is supposed to indicate the next stop, so I'm not sure if the sign was going through its demo or just stopped at showing "32K RAM" because it was waiting for control messages to be sent to it.

You don’t understand, the sign is referring to the number of sheep transported so far.

I bet the google screen was made using Excel. It has the very annoying habit of translating everything that looks like a date.

    Why? Because Market. Duh.

Geez, I remember seeing that back when I still lived in Toronto in 2009

"Of course, the thing is the sign is supposed to indicate the next stop, so I'm not sure if the sign was going through its demo or just stopped at showing "32K RAM" because it was waiting for control messages to be sent to it." I believe it was looping through showing the ram and some other status msgs.

    About half of them

    sit amet sit. Good placeholder.

Because the 50th of October is a valid a date!

(I am aware of MMM-YY format but it's still funny)

I've seen buses with these signs as well. They also appear to use serial connectors and have a propensity for getting stuck in boot loops.
