I am NOT satisfied with my Dell XPS temperature. When the system goes to sleep, it quite often fails to actually put the CPU into a low-power state, and it chews through battery life and heats up while in transit. It only supports the so-called "modern standby" and not the traditional sleep CPU states. Modern standby is, quite literally, hot garbage.

What pisses me off about the McDonald's kiosks is that they've designed them to look pretty at the expense of speed. When I ask for a Mocha Frappe with no cream, no sugar, and a shot of espresso, the person behind the counter can usually enter this in less than 10 seconds. When I use the kiosk, the sliding animations and delays make such rapid entry impossible. This difference in speed is enough to make using the kiosk not worth it.

This site needs serious help...it is sliding down into irrelevancy. Shit content, shit engagement...a sad shadow of what it used to be.

The kiosk is intentionally slowing you down to give you the time to reconsider ordering such a gay drink.

  • Rene (unregistered) in reply to Bubba

Apparently this interface is not slow enough for you to reconsider such a homophobic comment.

Moderation seems to be slow for some reason... Comment #2 is a Joke on apple dereferencing a NullPointer

trwtf is that, well, there's an ipad at all of course, but who wants to touch a grimy ipad to get their morning beverage?? wipe that thing down occasionally, yeesh!

This difference in speed is enough to make using the kiosk not worth it.

Around my way, at least, you also have to factor in how long it's likely to be for someone to actually appear at the front counter to take your order. And how likely they are to get your order wrong, which is the only real advantage the kiosks give.

By far the most annoying problem I have with the kiosks is that they semi-randomly forget about certain products or even entire sub-categories of products. Sometimes one kiosk is affected but the next one is OK, but other times all the kiosks seem to suffer from the same amnesiac effect. Last time I went there I put in almost the whole order and just had my daughter's drink to enter, when I discovered that the kiosk did not currently believe in the existence of any soft drinks other than Coke flavours. I checked another two kiosks and they had the same issue, so I had to go to the counter and order manually.

When this happens I usually tell the person who eventually serves me about the issue with the kiosks, but they've never seemed to care.
